National SAD Day

Nov 05, 2011 19:22

I've turned my clocks back while brooding over the end of daylight saving time.  This time of year is plenty depressing already without the additional whammy of moving the darkness an hour forward.

I always need more support from my friends to make it through this time of year.  If you'll be friendly to me, I'll make an extra effort to return the

society, friends, life

I'm sorry you are feeling bad.

I like being able to sleep in the extra hour. And I don't mind going to bed when it's dark--but getting up in the black dark feels unnatural, depressing and cold, so I like being able to get up in the light, at least for a while.

But I agree it does kind of cut the afternoon short.

One of the things we try to do is use full-spectrum bulbs inside the house, to balance the florescent ones. Studies have shown that those with Seasonal Depression don't dip as far down into the doldrums when they have the bits of light "filling in" the artificial stuff.

And virtual hugs, too.

I am still your friend and always glad to hear from you. And you and I can share the task of fighting off the darkness, together.
