The post has just brought me a nice, though confusing letter, from the Patents place, sent from their head office. It says

They seem to have replied to you to tell you that they... might not reply to you. Maybe? Very strange.

Yeah, your man has it right - I got that sort of response quite a bit, if less confusingly worded. It basically says "We got your application thanks. If you don't hear from us again, that's a no - we've only got time to contact people we want to interview."

Some how I managed to read that last bit as 'giant space leotards'.

Was really puzzled for a fraction of a second....
