Om nom nom pancakes! While Sólrún worked this morning, I hopped on the bus to Surrey Quays shopping center and bought us some baking soda for pancake-making. The pancakes turned out slightly eggy, as I had no measuring cups and had to guesstimate my cups and teaspoons, but otherwise quite delicious, and we enjoyed a very square late breakfast ( Read more... )

Slightly bizarre day, this one. I had intended to go see Júlía's noon concert today, but didn't know where or exactly what time it was. I decided it was time for me to make a proper pilgrimage to Westminster Abbey today. An excellent decision: I ended up spending four hours wandering around its halls, marvelling at the general splendor of the place and trying to contextualize all of the history engraved on its walls and tombstone-tiled floors. After a lovely lie-in this morning, we went downtown to the Oxford Street - Tottenham Court Road area to run some errands. Somehow I managed to stumble out of bed at 7:30 am, collect all my belongings, say goodbye to Grímur, make the 20-minute walk to Centraal station with my luggage, and buy Amsterdam postcards all in time for my 9:26 Thalys to Paris. Lazy day today. I decided not to go anywhere, but rather stayed at home, wrote emails, kept house, practiced my violin a bit, looked for housing in Berlin, and otherwise managed my affairs.
