I am wondering why it is that a significant number of young men on Mexican/Latin/Hispanic descent in the greater Los Angeles area seem to be huge Morrissey/Smiths fans? Or was it just the areas I happened to travel? We saw young men of said ethnic heritage sporting Morrissey tattoos everywhere we went. bird? Perhaps you could provide a little wisdom?

I remember when we hit Mexico City. Watching the aztec dancers near the cathedral we felt just at home. Cute guys dancing, mexican goth families coming out from nowhere giving each other kisses on the cheek.

I had to wade through a large marsh of Mexican Morrissey fans to get closer to the stage to see Exene when we were in LA and they all thought it was so sweet that I was stumbling through their midst just to get a few feet closer.

Jealous again that you saw X. I noticed a big magazine spread in Flaunt last summer with all these burly latino guys with MOZ tattoos. I don't understand it completely, but I am thinking it's like the Elvis thing (Obviously, there are similarities) and maybe these men are getting in touch with their more sensitive side. Let's hope. We need a lot more men getting in touch with their sensitive sides.

Yeah. A lot of them had Cadillac symbols as well.

okay, i really have NO IDEA why this is. it has always been like this since i have liked Moz/The Smiths. when we went to the first Smiths convention it was literally like 80% hispanic men/women. i was stoked!

when i went to a convention a few years later there was apparently a gang fight in the pit when Sweet & Tender Hooligans (Smiths/Moz tribute band) played.

Morrissey is totally milking it at this point, i will tell you that much.
