Admittedly, today's experiment proved to be somewhat less adventurous than anticipated; who knew biscuits were so easy to make (and so delicious)? We made strawberry shortcakes tonight, after finding some surprisingly-not-horrible-looking strawberries at the grocery store a couple of days ago, for $2/pound. Creme anglaise is a good substitute for whipped cream, though it is a bit thicker.

We should! I've been on a baking kick for the past couple of months, reading through a bunch of baking blogs and such. I've learned how to use yeast!
