Yergh, man. Mouth things suck. Have you reached the point yet where you just want to take a pair pf pliers and remove the problem yourself?

I was at that point a month ago. Unfortunately, most health professionals are more focused on trying to save the tooth than sort out the problem...

And at this point, I'm not sure that taking the tooth out will actually solve the problem after all...

Oh, that sucks. I had a dentist try to insist on saving the tooth, when it was all rotten and black. Like, no. Pull that fucker out!

Still, if nothing else, you may feel better? I had a raging blood infection that was sorted out fairly swiftly after getting mine pulled. Might at least be something to be aware of.

I'm seeing an oral surgeon a week from monday - just a consultation. Unfortunately, the endodontist doesn't work any day except Monday.

I'm really really tempted to find another dentist in the area, because I'm a bit salty about this tooth and everything that's happened with these dentists.

I was going to anyway once it all settled down...

I was going to suggest abscess as a possible issue, but didn't get around to it. (It happened to me _ i ran around for 3 days with a portable IV to get the antibiotics into my system as quickly as possible).

You have my sympathies with your other issues. With 2 fake joints, three more on the chopping block and a hand that won't grip, I'm ready to just sit down on a couch and never get up. But I won't. Keep fighting!!

Well, nobody's suggested antibiotics yet. I brought it up but they said I didn't need it.

The part that's worrying me is that my jaw has begun to ache and I'm getting small twinges on that side of the head. So I think whatever's happening, it's starting to spread.

I was told that abscesses in the head can be dangerous, given the proximity of the infection to the brain. i'd get a second opinion quickly, and ask about antibiotics. In my case they opted for IV as it was faster than oral ones. It was one of those pumps that would release a dose straight into my bloodstream every 8 hours. awkward, but effective. (At the time, the side of my face looked like I was chewing a golf ball...)

Oh, and they pulled the tooth once the abscess was gone.

Might you have a fracture in the tooth by chance that they didn't catch?

It's always possible, the problem is that without any proof on the scans, they're not willing to make a move.

I know that so well.
