I haven't posted any comments on the new books nor have I seen any really but I am anticipating them. I already have mine on reserve with B&N (I love my discount card!!).

I followed STV as it went to books after the series. They were pretty good though I hate that an integral plotline was never finished. I do pray that these new ones does some justice for the fans seeing as TPTB seemingly ripped such a great show and cast right away from its fans.

Hee! Yeah, there's a bunch of people who are looking forward to when the books come out - I know that.

Right now, though, I'm looking for positive promotions from people around the traps. There's certainly a lot of rather negative stuff around: people trying to start write-ins to have the book series cancelled and suchlike...

I'm trying to find the pony amidst the manure, if you know what I mean. :)

Wait, what!?!?!? I mean, what on earth is the point of that? Do they actually believe they can succeed?

And I do suspect the lack of positive activity right now is that the books aren't out yet. A post the week before it's out on how excited you are for the new book, or reaction/review posts after they've read it seems more "expected" (for want of better word).

I think it makes them feel like they're doing something against the pernicious corruption of their characters away from the pairings one true way of the characters that they love.

Truth be told, I wasn't expecting reviews yet; I was just seeking out people who'd boosted the signal with: "this looks good; I'll be getting the first one!"

I've seen it talked positively in messgeboards, especially in comparison to what they 'call' the last SGA novels. I've cheer leaded such discussions. I plan on writing a fairly big post on my LJ to publicize it, but wanted to wait until we got a bit closer to "Death Game" in Sept to show an example of what to expect (as in storytelling), even if it's a stand alone novel and I haven't ever read it yet. :-P

But, I might make a set of smaller posts leading up to it once I'm back home and not on a borrowed computer. I really want to see an uptick in sales to show the publisher what happens when you have a good writer and someone who is actually a fan write a set of books with an overall plot that highlights ALL the characters and digs deeper into meta.

For me, it's less the publisher who fails to recognise this and more TPTB who fail. I suspect there are many off-line fans of Stargate Atlantis who'll be delighted to read the books; even if it doesn't push the "right" characters or the "right" pairings (or any pairings at all, actually).

But I think it would help overall if there were people who were interested in the books and posted that they were interested. And encouraged others to post their interest - or even their reservations-but-they're-game-to-try-it.

And it might counter the "write in to MGM and stop the books" campaign that some people seem to be trying to implement.

What?!
... Wait, why exactly am I surprised?

People like that are pretty much the reason I stick to my friends list these days and otherwise keep my distance from the fandom.

As to talk about the books, I assume many folks are interested but hold off posting until they actually read at least the first one?

Stargate fandom never changes.

Yeah, I suspect most people are waiting for the books to come out; still, sometime a few people saying "I'm interested in this" can be a great signal-booster, and I was wondering if anyone had other than you.

I'm a random person just browsing someone else's f-list, but when I heard about the Legacy books and how much thought was going into them and what characters were going to be given attention (i.e. all of them), I was very excited. I'm planning on buying the first one and then all the others if I enjoy Homecoming enough.

Neat! (I think you'll enjoy Homecoming so long as you aren't intent on having an Elizabeth-centric book.)

I guess I've seen a few reports of people being largely negative towards the books: "I won't read it if it's not about [character]/[pairing]" (or in the case of Rodney/Jennifer: "I won't read it if it features the pairing") and I was looking for people who've posted that they're excited/interested/intrigued.

Plenty of people are going to try the first book; I'm looking for people who are going to try the first book and are posting about it.

Personally, I haven't posted anything because I feel a little weird about doing so; it feels like a conflict of interest, and I don't know how much to say. But I do plan on putting up discussion/squee posts for each book as they officially come out. The thought hadn't occurred to me that it might be useful to post before then, and I still feel kind of awkward about it ( ... )

I know that wraithfodder recently signal-boosted info about the series, and the comments look positive.
