Personally, I haven't posted anything because I feel a little weird about doing so; it feels like a conflict of interest, and I don't know how much to say. But I do plan on putting up discussion/squee posts for each book as they officially come out. The thought hadn't occurred to me that it might be useful to post before then, and I still feel kind of awkward about it.
I don't think the negativity is surprising, though, because so many people hated season five, and the books pick up right where season five left off, so all the things that people hated so much (Atlantis on Earth, Rodney/Jennifer, etc) will still be in there, with their shadow hanging over it. I think the strong negative feeling that so many fans developed towards TPTB is carrying over into anything officially sanctioned by them. Otherwise, I guess it's a combination of the general fannish wariness towards tie-ins -- which I understand, because I share it; the Fandy books are the first tie-ins I've bought in 20 years *g* -- and a lot of fans not having seen spoilers/previews that specifically intrigue them or appeal to their interests. I'm not seeing much enthusiasm for the Stargate comics, either (though this could have something to do with the first batch of comics being dog-awful...). I think most fans are probably either waiting until they have something concrete to judge, or are so upset with TPTB that they aren't interested in anything that's officially associated with the show.
The idea that there are people who are actively trying to discourage the books from being published is appalling, though. Don't they understand that there are actual human beings whose livelihood would be affected by that?
