Very nicely written, particularly the second fragment.

A quibbling question, tho' -- can you be both gracious and smug, at the same time? I would have thought the former precluded the latter, as graciousness is the art of making someone feel comfortable, and smugness is art of saying "Nyah, nyah, nyah!" non-verbally.

Having said that, I should also add that it didn't affect my appreciation for the tale at all. I really enjoyed the entire story.
