...Would anyone happen to know of any texts in the library dealing with the subject of dark energy or dark matter? As it relates to cosmology, I mean.

It, uh, appears I've forgotten a majority of what I knew about the subject. I've been trying to remember the hypothesized traits relating to the both of them for hours...all I keep returning to is ( Read more... )

That's...quite a weighty subect matter.

I know there are general cosmology books, but I'm afraid I didn't check for dark matter specifically.

It's not something I paid much attention to before, honestly. I don't know why I'm thinking of it now, of all times.

But even general cosmology might help, thank you. At the very least it might jump start my memory?

We certainly have the time to study thungs like that here.

Some may have a section or two devoted to it.
No problem.

Yeah...we definitely have that.

I wonder if there would be anything mentioning the various definition of dark energy or matter throughout the different universes here...

[Here's a new voice for you, Don! You might note he sounds fairly similar to one of your brothers. And he sounds intrigued, at the very least.]

It depends on your definition of "dark energy" or "dark matter", I might know something, or I might not. My expertise is rather... specific, to my home world. It certainly doesn't pertain to cosmology, unfortunately, so... I'm thinking not.

[Pause before he clicks back on his communicator.]

I thought there might be different definitions for different worlds. The dark energy I'm referring to relates specifically to...ah, the acceleration of the universe, I believe. In my world. A hypothetical subject only. [and that's all he remembers of it]

Would you be offended if I asked what it relates to in your world, sir?

[Xellos chuckles a bit.]

I wouldn't be offended in the least. Though, it's something completely different. I was thinking perhaps the "dark energy" you were referring to might be related to Black Magic, or perhaps the energy of the Demon King.

[It would be a stretch to say it might refer to the astral plane, but it wasn't too much of a stretch to call the energy of the Monsters something like a "dark energy."]

It's far from a hypothesis, though. Black Magic is very common.

[Don listens intently. Black magic? Demon King?]

[One thing about this boat is it had made those sorts of answers almost routine. When he answers it's fairly verbally tripping over himself in eagerness. Someone willing to talk to him~]

You're definitely not from my world, then. We have the term and various beliefs on black magic, but it's the common consensus that it doesn't actually exist.

It usually has a negative connotation...is it the same where you're from?

...Ah, and sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Donatello.

... Dark what?

[NO IRONHIDE. RUN AWAY.]

Dark matter and dark energy are concepts in my world relating to the universe and galaxies. Dark matter is the only one that's been proven - and that only recently - while dark energy is an entirely hypothetical concept discovered only through inference.

They're both apparently a large percentage of matter in the universe, though my current knowledge of them both is limited or I'd be able to explain it better.

[It's okay, Don. He tunes most of that out.]

So. You are asking for... energy?

tic_tech_turtle June 12 2010, 02:15:43 UTC
Well, I'm asking about energy. Energy and matter. It's just something I thought about today and realized I don't remember as well as I'd like to...

I'm also curious to see if any other world - or if there's any records of the future of mine - where dark energy has been proven or disproven. To be basing so much on a concept that might not actually be true...

That would be great, actually, if you wouldn't mind.

...You gotta lay off the science fiction, Donny.

It's not science fiction. Well, in literal terms, dark energy possibly is, but dark matter has been proven.

[You know what I'd bet you'd like, Don? A REALLY SLOW BLINK.]

All right, Scottie, beam me up.

[He's pretty sure you're joking.]
