...Would anyone happen to know of any texts in the library dealing with the subject of dark energy or dark matter? As it relates to cosmology, I mean.

It, uh, appears I've forgotten a majority of what I knew about the subject. I've been trying to remember the hypothesized traits relating to the both of them for hours...all I keep returning to is ( Read more... )

... Dark what?

[NO IRONHIDE. RUN AWAY.]

Dark matter and dark energy are concepts in my world relating to the universe and galaxies. Dark matter is the only one that's been proven - and that only recently - while dark energy is an entirely hypothetical concept discovered only through inference.

They're both apparently a large percentage of matter in the universe, though my current knowledge of them both is limited or I'd be able to explain it better.

[It's okay, Don. He tunes most of that out.]

So. You are asking for... energy?

Well, I'm asking about energy. Energy and matter. It's just something I thought about today and realized I don't remember as well as I'd like to...

I'm also curious to see if any other world - or if there's any records of the future of mine - where dark energy has been proven or disproven. To be basing so much on a concept that might not actually be true...

[Ironhide, frankly, has no idea if there's any such records among his own kind. If there were, he probably hadn't listened. But... he feels sort of bad for answering and having nothing.]

...

We have... energon?

[This is Ironhide trying to be helpful.]

IRONHIDE. IS SO. ADORABLE SOMETIMES. tic_tech_turtle June 12 2010, 02:44:06 UTC
Ah, yeah. You mentioned it before...your fuel source, right? You said it had explosive properties?

[This is Donatello happily latching on to the new subject]

... Yeah. It is, and it does. It is a form of pure energy.

[He is relieved. So... relieved.]

[...]

[Noticeable pause right here.]

[He wants to ask you a question, Ironhide, can you feel it?]

I suppose that would make it...unstable. Pure forms of nearly anything, I've noticed, tend to be.

[Yes. He can feel it.]

...

You are going to be disappointed if you ask that question, and I am forced to tell you to ask Ratchet, huh?

tic_tech_turtle June 12 2010, 03:06:12 UTC
Not disappointed. It only means I have to adjust my source of information, which isn't a problem at all.

[Maybe a little]

...It was only a question about the effects of Earth-made fuels on your systems, anyway.

Hmnf.

[There's a pause.]

... My systems disagree with it. It has a far smaller output yield than energon. And at my age... eugh. Best to leave it alone.

Ah, I see. I'd thought it would...even if it wasn't made from materials you're likely not used to, it's probably not near as strong as your energon...

[He sounds a little excited about that.]

Thank you, Ironhide!

It is nowhere near as strong as energon. I would need several hundred times the amount of fossil fuel to do the damage I could with my energon stock back home.

[Pause.]

You are... welcome?
