My "The Office" moment

This week I started working at a big oncology diagnostic lab, where I'm temping for summer until I start grad school. This makes me a bit like Ryan Howard (back when he was the temp). Today at 3:00 they called over the intercom:

That is so awesome! I'm interviewing soon for a job similar (processing tissue/blood) but I'm sure your lab is cooler! That is such an awesome opportunity!!! Yeah scientists are totally laid back, I love the atmosphere in a lab.

I obviously didn't get the water lab internship, which is good because more opportunities have come my way! I'm getting my BS in clinical biology in a few semesters, and I want to get CLS-certified (clinical lab scientist) after that. That license lets me operate the huge machines that you probably see a lot! I'm really into immunology, so I have a feeling I may want to specialize down the line.

After completing my first week, I've decided I really like science labs (or at least the one I'm in), and I really hope you can get a job in one soon. You should definitely go for your certification! Not only because you love science and labs and it would be a rad job, but because of the job security. I was thinking about how the medical industry seems to be one of the only industries that hasn't been very hard hit by the economy. It's sick and sad, but at the same time, good for those working in it.

Immunology sounds like a really cool field.
