1. in general, i find leaving your cell phone ringer on while in the office to be just shy of leaving it on in a movie theater, but there is a guy in the cube row next to me who a) always leaves his ringer on and b) has that "you had a bad day" song as his ringtone. this is grounds for public execution, right? the line has to be drawn somewhere ( Read more... )

There is this big creepy lady in my office and her cell phone ring is The Addams Family theme. It's so perfect and so very annoying. But I'd rather have that if my other choice is the Bad Day song. I can't hear that without seeing a montage of American Idol losers in my head.

the only song i think i'd rather hear less than the bad day song is, like, the macarena.

AGREED. What are your opinions on talking on a cell phone/making personal calls at work in general? I think this is APPALLING, but I seem to be mostly alone in that. You are at work! At least go out in the hall so I don't have to hear you make a dentist appointment!

hahah, my office would drive you CRAZY. since our lines show up as blocked numbers, a lot of people use their cell phones to call clients, which kind of creats a 'anyone can use their cell phone at any time, guilt free' free-for-all. so not only to people sit around using their cell phones at their desks, people walk around the office talking on their cell phones! that part doesn't even really bother me, so i feel the ringer thing is really pretty reasonable.

SO I was watching Everwood s2 and was even more deeply amused to note that Nina's Big Gay Ex-Husband was played by Dylan Walsh. Whose default acting gig seems to be "smarmy moralizing cheater." Still, much fun to be had splicing "Karl's" lines about how he's totally gay into random scenes of Nip/Tuck.

I find myself making little noises of "no no no NO" when they say Manny will be traded. And I'm not even in Boston!

I totally make personal calls at work booking dental appointments etc., (though not on my mobile) but then I also was paid $34,000 a year this morning to write out all my christmas cards.

which reminds me - I had the most awesome card idea in the history of card ideas for you, AND NOW I CAN'T REMEMBER.

Heh, I obviously have no problem goofing off at work (hi, lj!), but apparently I just want people to be sneaky, or at least non-disturbing about it.

see, my job at the moment IS to goof off at work, though when I had actual tasks to do, I tried not to for the most part. (or at least, not so excessively. *grin*)

I think the key for personal calls at work is to a. keep them short and b. keep your cel phone on silent. I mean, have it on - a lot of people have kids, may get calls they have to take, etc.? - but don't have it ring.

though I hate hate HATE non-ring ringtones, so I'm biased.

i imagine it's more satisfying said out loud in full voice, rather than muttering it under your breath.
