My tailor did a very nice twenties-style coat for me from one of their patterns. Cashmere, with a silk lining, and velvet at the sleeve cuffs and collar, which are place-holders until I get around to getting appropriate fur pieces to replace them. Folkwear patterns vary in their ease of use and fitness for purpose. I am reliably told, for instance, that if you want a cheongsam, forget about making it yourself from the Folkwear pattern and go and look for a properly-trained dressmaker in your nearest Chinatown. Some things actually do have to be made to order, unless you are lucky enough to be a perfect pattern size.
Your coat sounds absolutely divine!! This particular pattern has been quite easy to follow; then again, aside from the unique front, it's not a complicated pattern. Still, I do want to make sure that it's going to fit! :P
