The first of the Bazhir shamans arrived a week after Ishak's fatal mistake with the crystal blade. They came sometime during the night; when Alanna rose in the morning, they were seated cross-legged before the altar. Faithful sat facing them, blinking solemnly as he returned their stares. Yup, it's still August here. Writing to you from L.A., where I'm staying in Zero's dorm room with her and her new roomie, Janine. It's more than a little small for three people, but it's way better than going to Africa with my father in the middle of August. I'm crashing here for the next six weeks until school starts in England, and getting my dose of fun before the serious schoolwork kicks in.
I'm sorry about your apprentice. I know you didn't know him for very long, but I hope you're coping okay. I know it can't be easy. But how the heck do you *accidentally* start a school for magic? They're still re-building out last school, from what I've heard; how did you manage a new one in less time than that?
You make me feel like such a slacker for taking a month off, you know that.
Figure out a way for me to send you a new leather jacket, or boots, and they're yours. I have serious Rodeo Drive shopping to do tonight--
With shrimp for Faithful and good thoughts for you,
Parker

Still August. Workshops just ended. There were dinosaurs. One of them liked bubbles. Go figure.
I'm sorry about your apprentice. It's always hard to lose someone. I wish I was able to do more then write a letter.
It looks like I won't be heading back to Antar anytime soon. So I'll see you at the wedding. I'm pretty sure our dresses are cut to hide weapons.
Good luck with your school.
You're missed.
