23rd: Met up w/ Girl, Alyson & Jessica for dinner at Pastel (recently open after a long renovation, which apparently made it smaller, and caused the staff to not realize how to bring 4 people's food out at the same time). Headed out & met up w/ Roch, Myrrh & her friend & headed off to karaoke. Which, not at all surprisingly, consisted mostly of Luna Sea songs at first, but then degenerated into Sailor Moon & other crack songs (I tortured everyone w/ Ange, since we were in DAM :P"). But then everyone dropped off fairly early, leaving the original 4 of us for most of it, and then finally just 3 for the last half hour. And holy fuck, they could NOT figure out our bill. It was like:
"It's this much."
"OK, that sounds like a lot- a bunch of people left early."
"No, only 1 person left early."
"No, 2 people left early, then another left, and then another left after that."
"OK, 2 people left after the first half hour. That's it."
"No, someone else left right after that, then someone else left 1/2 hour ago."
"OK, 1 other person left in the 2nd half hour. But we can't confirm the last person leaving, so you'll just have to pay for them."
"OK, fine, whatever."
"OK, it's still this much."
"Fine..." *pays, leaves*
So we walk outside, and I'm looking at the receipt, which says:
21:06 ~ 22:06 1.0h 7名
22:06 ~ 22:36 0.5h 5名
22:36 ~ 23:06 0.5h 4名
23:06 ~ 23:39 0.5h 5名
Um, what?? How the fuck did we GAIN a person at the end? So I went back in & was like
"WTF is this? How did we go from 5 people to 4, then back to 5?"
"Oh, 1/2 hour ago someone else came up to your room."
"No, that was someone else LEAVING the room. The last half hour was just the THREE of us, whom you see standing here."
"Um..... well, we can't confirm that they actually left, so we'll just say there were 4 of you at the end."
"FINE, what the fuck ever..."
Seriously. Never go to a place that does 後払い if you're going to be leaving at different times.
24th: Got up fairly early, headed to Tokyo Dome around noonish & got some tour goods (pamphlet/book, cookies, MOON t-shirt, blanket, & desk calendar). Met up w/ Jessica & Lilian, who also got goods, then headed over & met up w/ Roch, & spent way too long trying to decide what/whether to eat before finally going up to some little udon/soba place. Headed back down to the cold again, met up w/ Evon & everyone else from the night before again, passed out tickets, etc. Did a double take when Monica showed up, 'cause I was like "Holy shit, it's Willow!" Must've been the hair...
Eventually we started lining up, which took a while. I crammed all my goods into my backpack, partly so I wouldn't have to carry 2 bags, and partly so the bag check would just be like "Oh, it's just stuffed w/ tour goods". Of course the loudspeakers are blaring this repeated announcement about no cans, bottles, cameras, videotaping, tape recorders, light-up thingies, etc. Yeah, whatever.
Got inside, headed to our seats (arena C-block, about halfway back, & a bit left of the stage, but I could still mostly see everyone on the stage, and fairly well when they came down the catwalk), & sat & waited. And waited, and waited. The show ended up starting damn near an hour late, but when it finally did, it was SOO worth it.......
The lights went out, a remix of "Moonlight Sonata" [Beethoven] (which, I'm told by
certain people who've watched the videos a billion times, they used at Capacity∞) came on, & the screens showed a red back-lit moon w/ a bunch of random numbers flashing over it, which every once in a while stopped at 1989, 1995, 2000, and finally 2007... The crowd went nuts, & then it started...
- Loveless
- Déjàvu
- Jesus
- Slave
- End of Sorrow
- True Blue
- Face to Face
- Gravity
- RA-SE-N
- Providence
- Moon
- drum solo (Link 3)
- Back Line Beast (J + 真夜!)
- Fate
- Breathe (played at the end of the catwalk, in the middle of the arena (damn premium-seat slave bastards -_-;))
- Storm
- Desire
- Time is Dead
- Rosier
- Tonight
the audience sang several repeats of Silent Night, which led into the
ENCORES: - I For You
- White Christmas [Irving Berlin]
- In My Dream (w/ Shiver)
- Believe
- Mother
- Precious... (He forgot the パズル line in the 2nd verse & just did the 頭の中に one all 3 times ^^;)
- Wish (silver ribbon GET!) ^^;
Afterwards the piano versions of Mother & Desire came on, possibly others, as I couldn't really tell/wasn't paying enough attention. Everyone walked out to the middle of the arena on the catwalk thingy & threw a shitload of drumsticks, waved, etc. And then they rolled the credits on the screen. I kept secretly hoping for an Oblivion Dust-style
announcement, but to no avail... So now I guess it's just waiting around for the DVD release of the show- at least this one I KNOW they'll release, unlike a
certain other band's "final" show that was supposed to be DVD'd... -_-;
Couple good quotes included Ryu near the beginning, saying "I know all of you have been really looking forward to tonight, but I think the ones who looked the most forward to it may be us 5"... and Sugi introducing Ryu as 世界一ボカリスト!世界一ナルシスト! ("World's best vocalist! World's biggest narcissist!")
Overall, I'm damn tempted to say this was the best show I've been to... just the sheer buildup & anticipation of it- as soon as the Loveless synths started, my throat got all closed up w/ HOLY SHITness, just like when TSP opened w/ I Am One on the
first show w/ Jimmy back in '99... that happened a couple other times during the show- guess that's what happens when you get to listen to a band for 5 years believing you'll never see them live, and then suddenly do (at least I wasn't bawling for most of the show, like Girl was)... When J busted out & started Back Line Beast I was soo hoping they'd all do a solo track (Super Love? ^^;), but alas, no luck there either. Then again, I only really would've cared about Sugi doing one. And possibly KR (傷!).
Both Girl & I managed to catch ribbons during Wish- we actually both grabbed the same one, but then another one was slowly floating down, & she grabbed that one & let go of the other one (which means mine's all crinkled & hers is all pristine, but oh well, at least I got one!).
So, coming up is Buck-Tick (gonna probably have to invest in some binoculars for that one), then a double dose of J. Still miffed about the 2 different shows on the 31st, but since it appears nobody else we know is going, I guess we're SOL on that one. And there's already like 4 more J shows (and a new album) announced for April/May, and Oblivion Dust in Feb (and KR on 2/3 -_-;). So, looks like the odd months will be rest... unless I dig up more shit to go to (oh yeah- Girl found 2 TMR shows for MEN ONLY (I shit you not- 男性限定) this week at AX- I was almost tempted to go to one, but then I checked e+ again & they'd already stopped selling tickets :P"). But anyway. That's all for now!
