First off, let me say that Gackt's fan club (yeah, yeah, I joined last month- whatever) sends TEH GAYEST birthday (post)cards EVAR. Seriously- the application has a checkbox for gender- don't they have different cards for their male members (surely I can't possibly be the ONLY one) that don't have a fucking "chu♡" on them? And even the message on the back is Teh Gay: 明日の自分に会いたいと思えるそんな貴方でいられますように - which is basically "May you be the you who wants to meet yourself tomorrow" (kinda awkward to translate). And they must send out batches once a month, 'cause I got mine on like, the 3rd. Oh well. The xmas/new years postcard came today- just "Merry Xmas & Happy New Year" on the back, & the front is a pic from his samurai drama w/ some illegible Japanese cursive... I can only make out 見たこともないだろう。×××の××を見せて×ろう。××の×気を×××。 I hate fucking 書道 (aka it looks cool, but I can't fucking read it & wish I could -_-;) I'll have to take it to work tomorrow to have someone read the fucker.
But holy shit, does that fan club do some shit. Unfortunately, it's all ludicrously expensive. Like, the first thing I got when I joined was a letter about some weekend ski trip in Feb. for like $600, w/ a "special 'play with Gackt' event", which I was like, "$600? Yeah, right. Plus, I don't ski." And now I have this gigantic glossy brochure-like thing w/ details of a fucking 5-day trip to PARIS, with a big 3-day block on the event plan labeled "Gackt Special Days in Paris". For nearly $3000. Yeah. The deadline to apply is tomorrow. I don't think I'll be making that one, either. It'd probably end up being fun, but I'd feel way too weird. And being the only white guy in a crowd of insane Japanese fangirls, in FRANCE, would just be plain bizarre. Maybe if I -spoke- any French, but oh well. We'll see what the next big thing is, since it appears this sort of thing is a regular occurance (the Paris trip is labeled 夜想会VII〜月と闇〜 (nocturnal meeting VII- moon & darkness)). Apparently this is all he does now, 'cause lord knows he hasn't been doing any freakin' CONCERTS lately... -_-;
And holy shit- I just realized this little hanko-looking logo on all this shit is his name in KANJI: 神威楽斗 (god/majesty/music/Big Dipper o_O;)。 Damn, I didn't even figure there WAS kanji for that. o_O; Oh well.
So, other than that, it's just about concert time. Luna Sea 12/24, Buck-Tick 12/29 (we're just about as far back as you can possibly get (SW stand seats W11-12, i.e. the very very far left edge of the screen). Hopefully 11-12 are far enough from the corner to see around the big blue wall -_-; J on 12/30 and 31. Speaking of, apparently there are TWO shows on the 31st. Or, rather, 1 on the 31st at 11pm, and 1 on the 1st at 2am. Which is kind of annoying, esp. considering Girl has the 11 show & I have the 2am, which means I'll miss the countdown, and she's already said she's not willing to tape the first one for me. -_-; So I'm gonna have to try to listen from outside to get the setlist written down... And apparently Moi dix Mois is playing like the 28th or something, and while it is somewhat tempting, that's just way too many freakin' shows. Plus, I only had one of their albums until recently (apparently they had a bunch more), and none of their other shit has grown on me yet. But damn, I had to bump Ange up from 4 to 5 stars this morning on the way to work. Too bad they're only on cyberdam, which I hardly get to do even when I DO get to actually do karaoke anymore, and I'm met w/ nothing but derision & scorn whenever I put them in (or Malice, for that matter -_-; Even the Gackt songs!)...
Anyway, in other news, I completely finished R&C Future, which r00led ("yo", or "d00d"), and am currently plodding thru Mario Galaxy (man, could that splash screen voice be any gayer?) at home & Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on the train to/from work. Had to do a bunch over today 'cause I didn't listen to some stupid boing-oing statue when he told me to stop digging, and he took ALL my fucking rupees (over 2500). Fucker. And wtf's up w/ the freakin' Rupoor? NEGATIVE money??! WTF is that shit?
And, in a rare display of outdoor activity, I went snowboarding last weekend. Spent the whole first day falling on my ass, getting frustrated & quitting early, not wanting to go again the next day (kinda like last time), but after getting talked into going out again the 2nd day (we were going to leave after lunch anyway), heading up to a longer, shallower course, and having a lot softer snow (which made falling down a lot less painful), I actually managed to not do TOO terribly. Until my legs were so freakin' sore from having to stand back up so many times & keep my knees bent while speeding down forwards in between tumbles that I was ready to give up again. And there was a HUGE freakin' strech in the middle that was completely flat, which was kinda stupid. Oh well. Ended up w/ sore knees & a big 3" bruise right next to my tailbone, and my neck's still stiff. So I've put off SMG for a bit, & been catching up on Futurama, which I just recently started watching after having Mike & Jake quote it incessantly at work every day (almost thru season 2)...
Anyway, suppose that's all 'til the slew of setlists next week... >_<;
