1. I hate how Padme transformed from a reasonably competent leader to an emotionally weak woman only capable of sitting in a room alone and crying over her husband's confusing, secretive behavior. There's a brief throwback to Padme of Episode I when she says "So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause", but that small line is the only hint of her previous intelligence and gumption. Her character was reduced to one that simply exists to support a plotline (namely, Anakin's turn to the dark side). And remind me again why she loves such an evil, cold, creepy man?

2. Why would they have already starting building the Death Star at the point in time when Anakin was transformed into a cyborg? Who did they think they needed to fight? Palpatine had already taken control as Emperor... And it takes them 20 some odd years to build the Death Star, but only 3 years to build Death Star II? How does that work?

Yeah! That pissed me off about Padme too. WTF.

Regarding the construction of the Death Star, I think the idea was to tie into the beginning of Episode IV where the Emperor disolves the last remnants of the Senate. The idea being that if the Empire can destroy any planet at will, they can rely on planetary governors to stay in line. So it *kinda* makes sense that the Death Star was under construction at the end of Ep III.

My personal theory is that they diverted all funds from the clone program to work on the Death Star. This would explain the dramatic decline in storm trooper effectiveness.

You provide a valuable public service with this review. I think maybe the "wait till it's the DVD Hollywood pays you to return in less than 24 hours" tactic we used for Matrix Revulsions is in order here. That, and lots of drinkohol.

rarely do i yawn so hard that i pull a muscle in my jaw. it's been a while since i saw ep1, but i think this was worse.
I don't have too many complaints with Obi Wan, but Anakin's fall was just so simplistic and contrived. It's not a tragic downfall as much as it is just pathetic.

one good thing, though:
since all the plot development is blatant and heavy handed, and generally explained in redundant dialog, i feel like there's a chance that some people might pick up on the whole Sith/George W Bush connection (with the sacrificing liberty for security and bringing peace by offing dissidents)
