THE HOWLING MADNESS CONSUMES ME

Ninety bleeding minutes on the phone with Verizon. I don't feel like relating all the gory details, but here's a quick summary of the call. You know, when I first wrote this, I put in all kinds of high-larious references to madness, suicide, and murder, but ultimately I didn't want you to think I was exaggerating about any of the other points.

That is really crappy customer service.

Send a letter to another DSL company begging them to come to your area :)

Well, there's another reason I stick with Verizon: They've got an aggressive program for laying fiber cable. I'm hoping to be eligible for FiOS within six months or so.

If you have the supervisors name, you should write a letter, because I am sure his attitude is NOT company policy.

Especially the fact that you don't need DSL.

Unfortunately, this is not atypical behavior for Verizon. Their unofficial motto is "We don't care. We don't have to. We're the phone company."

My darling, what makes you think that anything will change with FiOS? You'll be paying significantly more, and you'll be getting the same "you don't need our service" attitude from them.

May I humbly recommend that you move to an area with a different service provider that might *GASP* actually offer decent customer service?

I'm not prepared to move just because my ISP's customer service bites ass. If it's anything like the last three places I've lived, it will be a brutal, eye-gouging three weeks while I get my service set up the way it should be, and then relatively smooth sailing. Once it's working they're usually pretty good about keeping it working.

And the cost of most FiOS service plans is comparable to what I'm paying now. And lots faster.
