I did some dicking around on JSTOR earlier to get ideas for my paper for History of Modern China & Japan.  I want to do something about Japanese outcastes.  Anyhow, while doing that I made this interesting discovery.

There was a Guild of the Blind in Tokugawa Japan.

All the hours of watching YYH and Basilisk and admiring the likes of those Beautiful

Have you done any looking into the Ainu? Or were you focusing on particular people as opposed to groups?

I've heard of the Ainu before and have looked at them a little, but I think I feel more inclined to do social as opposed to racial groups; however, I'm still in the beginnings of quasi-research, so I'm not solidly fixed on anything just yet.
