I have not had the opportunity to go read the rest of Paul S. Atkins's Chigo article...

But I did find and show hcolleen the link for this:

Chigo Monogatari: Love Stories or Buddhist Sermons?

I think she focuses more on the religious themes of the chigo stories rather than the chigo themselves.  When I read the Atkins article I'm going to take notes, and once I've done that I'll happily share them here ^^

culture, chigo, japan

Yeah, she does.

However, given that the Sensui arc is chock full of Buddhist symbolism and rhetoric, I most definitely say that Itsuki/Sensui resembles a very warped version of a monk/chigo relationship. With a side of Plato thrown in for good measure. (You're the one who wrote about the allegory of the cave...)

In an AU where one chigo meets one monk who was kicked out of the temple for doing many things with too many hands ... or something like that ...

THIS SUMMER--THE APOCALYPSE! Coming to a charred ruin near you.

Okay, so that's ... that needs work, but hehe.

Why yes I am! One of my most favorite assignments ever! I still brag about that, and it's come up quite frequently lately XD

*ROFLMAO*

Brilliance. Sheer brilliance.

Also, Adult!Sensui seems very Mishima-esque to me. I was wondering if you got that vibe off of him as well.

Aha, the Mishima reference in "Midnight Madness," I remembered this comment ^^ I've only read Confessions of a Mask, but Mishima himself ... yeah, sort of. Like after WWII I think he sort of couldn't take the reality check and go forward like other people did; maybe that factored into why he offed himself...?

You're not actually interrogating the text from the wrong perspective, don't worry. It's just the only literature icon I have and I need more, so if you see any Henry James/Balzac (omg their love is so canon!) ones, send them my way. I need to replace this one. Anne Rice can only be so amusing.

I just read the front page of the other article and I'm about to read this one, so thank you for bringing them to my attention! This whole concept of Chigo is so interesting to me. I've already started plotting out incredibly random fics on the subject.

Oh, and while we're on the subject: hi! The name's Sekah, nice to meet you. I remember loving a few of your fics back in the day, so I'm really glad you've friended me. And, though I think I've used up my quota for thank you today, thank you anyway for your kind review! It just about made my day.

Well, this has gotten too long, so I'll stop here. I usually don't post this long, dammit! This is three times in one day! Since when did I have anything to say?

If I knew how to make text blink, I would totally make that whole subject...subject thing big and shiny. Repetitions are fun, aren't they? Thank you should have an apostrophe 's' at the end too.

It's late for me.
