Catallus 85: I hate and I love

I hate and love
      And if you ask me why,
I have no answer, but I discern,
can feel, my senses rooted in eternal torture.

Catallus is my first of two presentations I'll have to make in World Lit. by paralleling the text with some other cultural artifact.  I'm thinking of offering up some song by Cradle of Filth; " ( Read more... )

Do you have to provide historical / cultural support? Because Catullus' work is a great choice, if so. No A, h0r.

Hm? No A--Oh, did I spell it wrong? Oh man, and I had the book right by me, too...

Catullus' poems are among the selected readings that we'll be covering then (like the Allegory of the Cave is one of the ones we're covering right now). The requirement of the presentation is finding something with some relation to the reading--could have something to do with the piece itself, share a theme, et cetera--and share it with the class. If I go through with my plan of using a Cradle song it would be drawing attention to the love-hate themes.
