For Anyone (but especially Anita/Valen/Sanzas)

Locke has been surprised unpleasantly before. Altogether too often. Locke has been confused before, if not very frequently. But this, right now, is probably the most bewildered Locke has ever been. Too many feelings, and they get very confusing very rapidly. He's in his room again, sprawled on his bed, looking concerned and mostly just - well.

"Oh. Alright. Then. I've been sick and everything is normal and everything is going to be fine."

And now for a suave change of subject...

"And I really like your Valen."

He shakes his head. "Not that big of lies. Gods." A pause. "You're not letting me try it, so I suppose I'd better hold you to the truth. Or part of it. And he's not my Valen."

But there's a little glow there, just for a moment.

She chuckles. "Like hell he is." Not lying. Just not telling you she's getting read to accept the shift.

A snort. "Would you like to be anyone's Anita?"

[tomboy_22]

"No. I belong to no-one. But I think you and he are not like that."

Philosophically. Because even if she's a sort of a slut, she recognizes loyalty when she sees it.

And not true. She belongs to Henry, to Sam, to Jean-Claude and... see, that's the problem. She can't be anyone's.

A blink, and a moment of surprised silence.

She looks at him. "What?"

[thornofcamorr]

"You're an interesting woman," he observes. Mildly.

"Huh?" She looks at Locke like he just gave broccoli for desert.

"You seem to think you're unobservant. But you notice things, sometimes."

[tomboy_22]

"Yeah. Like that was hard to spot." She makes a face. "Sheesh."

He laughs. "You'd make an awful thief, you know that?"

[tomboy_22]

"That's why I am an executionner, not a thief."

[thornofcamorr]

He laughs. And winces again, though he tries to cover it with a quick grin. "Exactly."

"See how it all makes sense?" A grin. A laughter. "I have to stop making you laugh."
