Going to replace the music soon, so if you still wanted any from the last post, grab it. Other than that, not much interesting to say. But there’s a lot of it!

Stuff I've done lately that you're absolutely welcome to skip over )

meatworld, meme, wacky czech hijinks, brokeback mountain

Some stuff happened. And, uh. Yeah. Uh.

Now, no one can say that I don’t own a piece of St. Michael’s cathedral floor.

It took me a long time while we were chatting to figure out that you were actually talking about an actual piece of the floor. Majestic.

Also, the pig-and-chainsaw story is prime. I think more food should require the application of chainsaw.

... and I am absurdly envious that you got to see them perform that 'O Brother' song live. Man I love that album.

It's not a very big piece, but it's a piece nonetheless. It just seemed wasteful to leave it there.

We're going to have another roast pig for the American wedding ceremony next year! I shall see if we can add a chainsaw to the arrangement.

That song was great. She described it as, "a cross between a lullaby and a field holler."

Ask me to talk about relationships in Pale Sky because I want to. Please?

Ahhahahaha, I was going to mention Der Uber Fandom FF7 but I figured somebody else would and that's like, several chapters of an encyclopedia right there.

I try not to monopolize every conversation with original fic wank, but hell yes Pale Sky ships!

(Also ADORED the bit in the e-mail but I will go into depth later when I'm not writing sneakily during work)

Mm, just for the record, German isn't Romantic, it's Teutonic. As is English. Actually, English is more like the whore of Babylon when it comes to languages.

Aaaand. I can't remember if I've seen you ship Saiyuki or not. Failing that...hell. FFVII.

Whoops. Yeah, thanks for catching that-- I meant to say, it's a lot closer to Romance lanagues that I've studied. (In my defense, it's been roughly four years since I last studied a language seriously, and that was Chinese. And I have not had my caffiene this morning.)

Ah, yeah. I've discussed the anthromorphic slut tendencies of English before with other folks.

Christ, FFVII. That's going to take an entire other comment space. I'll post it separately in another comment.

English never met a word it didn't like. ...well, actually, it did, but it smashed it in the face until it decided being English's little bitch was better than living in English's basement with all the other Bad Little Words That Wouldn't Co-operate.

...I am so bloody glad English is my first language. Although it seems to have fucked me up for learning any others, mind you. [headdesk]

Someone famous said something like that about English once. I'd look it up, but I'm kinda lazy. I'm still convinced though that the other languages snicker about English behind its back, which is why English is so psycho.

And yeah, I can't imagine having to learn English. I speak it and the rules don't make any sense to me a lot of the time.

I maintain that anyone who writes one hundred word drabbles in German or Dutch is a dirty rotten cheater. A DIRTY ROTTEN CHEATER, I SAY!!!

...although I will say spoken German is easier for me to tease out the meaning of than the written, while I find French is the exact opposite. Stupid Continent! Not only do you change languages every four hundred kilometres YOU HAVE BLOODY SWITZERLAND WHERE THEY SPEAK WHATEVER THE HELL THEY FEEL LIKE AT THE TIME!!!

Send me back to Europe. Please. [cries]

AGREED. Man, it takes forever to say something in German.

And I agree about the Swiss thing too, because that confused the hell out of me when we were going through. Fortunately, I was too busy looking for Swiss Guard (a small part of my brain futilely hoped there’d just be some, you know, random guards strolling about. Hope springs eternal) to get too hung up on it.

Europe was nice, but I think I’m gonna huddle at home for a while now, and enjoy the plentiful icewater and smoke-free restaurants. I do miss the stellar beer and energy conservation, though.

I was insanely jealous of our hotel consulate in Geneva.

"...uh...so, what language do you speak here? French?"
"...oh, French, English, German, Italian, Romansch...whatever."

Bloody quinty-whatsit-lingual bastard. [grumbles]

This is totally about me!

I have been playing FFXII and as it's by the same team it horribly horribly reminds me of shemale Sydney and Ashley Riot's Assless shorts (it's a great game, just bad memories). This makes me think of all the fun we had SEVEN years ago (yes, it's been this long) and now i'm all nostalgic and sad :(

I like hearing about you!

Aww. Hey, let's make this the official SSC Nostalgia thread. We'll act like old people sitting on a porch and mutter about how things were so much better back in our day, and to get off our damn lawn, you kids!

You go first. What do you miss?

oh my :O How big a piece? :D

Was the shonnbrun place you went to a big palace-type thing with a big pond/grass area in front with a bunch of swans? And it had a little shop downstairs out the front?

I don't know if you know any of my originals, so I'll go with FF8 ^^

It’s not too big! Just a shard, maybe an inch and a half long. Enough to be holy ( ... )
