Ok, now this campaign just got really dirty. Obama's gained some sympathy points in my book. First of all, at least he was honest and didn't lie about it. I respect honesty, especially in the realm of politics where it's so rare to find. Second, the fact that such a high ranking person in the Hillary camp would say something so digging and ( Read more... )

Yeah. I can't vote for The Hill either, though I really wanted to at one point. (Woman prez? Yes, please!) This just solidifies that opinion. I can't vote for her SOLELY because she (probably) has ovaries.

I would love to have a woman president, but I want it to be the RIGHT woman president instead of just ANY woman president. Her and her camp have proven to be a) too divisive at a time that the country needs a leader to bring us together and b) too hypocritical and full of double speak. I respect people who say what they really mean, even if I don't necessarily agree with all that they say.

Though he's still out of favor in my personal assessment (thanks to his disasterous "sit down and talk with Iran one day, bomb the hell out of em the next" flip-flip a couple of months back), Obama has been going up in my assessment the last month or so, and if he continues on this track, I might could vote for him.

:-) That reflects the uncertainty of that possibility. He really turned me off and disappointed me earlier in the campaign.

Before you rush into this, remember that it is an advisor, and that the Clinton campaign does not endorse the comments. And remember how 3 months ago, there was a new nasty leak from Obama's campaign every week or so. There are lots of reasons to not vote for Hillary, but this isn't one of them, particularly since Obama's campaign did this a LOT.

Which turned me off of Obama back then and is why I'm still iffy on him. As much as I'd like to separate a candidate from his/her advisors, I think that seven years of the Bush administration has taught us the importance of looking at the people around a candidate and not just focusing on the individual candidate. The Clinton campaign may not have officially endorsed his comments, but considering that he's pretty high up in the Clinton campaign and they have been making strategic moves in the run-up to Iowa and New Hampshire, it begs the question of whether there was an under-the-table go-ahead given for Shaheen to say what he did. Again, in a Bush-influenced political landscape, it's been done before and is very possible.

I see your point. And I think that, to be perfectly honest, that's the question I have about both of these candidates: can they actually lead?

No one has been fired yet, which is a bad sign.

Well of course he has sold drugs--he's black! What black man doesn't sell drugs? Unlike white people, who never EVER sell/use drugs. I mean, they're too busy studying all day! What? You say they're watching TV? LIES! ALL LIES!

I was wondering when something like this would be said. I mean, it was only a matter of time we dug out our old bag of bigoted thoughts and said. . . "Well, you know he's black. Maybe gangs or drug use." Just like when people bring out the old "Man-woman" thing on Hillary.

Bleh. . . I hate people.

PS - You two are the sweetest things. I'm so excited about Netflix!

When you told me that you were going to get it, it sprung to my mind as the perfect gift, especially since they had sent me two or three things in the mail about giving the gift of Netflix in the couple of weeks prior. :-)
