LJ strangeness

After commenting on a post by madfilkentist of a few days ago, I noticed that many of the comments had a empty pair of parentheses in the row of links below them, like this

(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) ()

on blaufeuer's comment.

It seems to be only on comments that had been replied to (and which therefore can't be edited).

I don't see them on any comment on that post. But if it's any consolation I have noticed the effect before, it's always gone away before I got round to commenting on it. An artefact of the code...

I looked at some posts on seanan_mcguire's journal, since that can be counted on for long comment threads. In some cases there was a fourth parenthesized item called "(Expand)" (i.e., show collapsed items in a thread). My guess is that there's a bug where the "Expand" item is suppressed in certain cases, but the parens aren't.

LJ's software has gotten seriously buggy of late.
