I refuse to have anything to do with Facebook, since it first appeared, for a number of reasons. I didn't even know about this name problem, but that would be yet another deal-breaker for me ( ... )

But when I cancelled my G+ account, it never actually got cancelled. It's unbreakably coupled to my gmail address (which is only a backup, but has its uses), and my membership" in YouTube and Google itself. I keep getting requests from people I know in other contexts to join their "circle" (or whatever G+ calls it), and I have to tell them that I'm not actually on G+, because I cancelled the account.

They were also very rude to me when I tried to convince them that "Ace Lightning" was a legitimate name.

So, I don't want a G+ account, even if they'll now let me use the name everyone knows me by.
