I just finished watching an anime that featured a subplot about a couple who had an affair and buried their newborn baby in the garden in a box, but the kid was saved by a servant and grew up and disguised himself as a noble and seduced his mom and poisoned his dad.
I feel like there was something I wanted to say, but . . . Buffy and Jack Harkness. Wait it was . . . no, nope. All I've got now is Buffy and Jack. Or Xander and Jack*cough*
I liked Knocked Up. Not as much as I liked The 40-Year Old Virgin, but I have a love for that movie so big it cannot be explained. And I'm not so sure I agree she found perfect happiness and contentment after giving birth -- just a good chance with a guy who turned out to be sweet and just right and a huge apartment in gang ridden East L.A. Heh. I mean, I think the juxtaposition of her sister and her brother-in-law was meant to help us imprint that it's not all sweetness and light. But, um. I hope to end up on the baby train myself, so maybe I'm just sensitive. :)
I was starting to think nobody liked my Buffy/Jack idea. *sniffle*
I can't quite see Xander/Jack. Xander just seems too girl-obsessed. But I had this vision of Jack getting flirty with Giles and Buffy's jaw dropping. (But really, the two I want to hook up are Toshiko and Willow.)
"Perfect happiness and contentment" was kind of an exaggeration. It was more like...everything clicked for Allison. You got the feeling everything was going to be okay, and feeling came almost the moment after the baby was born. I don't know if you've seen "Waitress," but kind of the same thing happened. They were both lovely, uplifting moments, and I'm sure LOTS of women find real fulfillment in giving birth, but as someone who doesn't ever want to be pregnant, I can't help wishing... I don't know. See, I wouldn't change either or movie. Or not much. But both movies left me wondering...okay, what about the other side? Then I remembered that "Driving In Cars With Boys" kind of shows the other side, or one facet of it, and it was an all right
