I'm going to Iceland next month. Just for a few days, but I'm excited to be traveling somewhere new and interesting. I'm only a little apprehensive because my cat - Sophie, naturally - was diagnosed with diabetes literally the day after I purchased my tickets. I have to give her insulin injections twice a day, which is actually easier than it ( Read more... )

I've heard that Iceland is gorgeous. Expensive, but gorgeous, and super-interesting geology, too. I hope you have a fantastic time, and that it won't be too cold.

And definitely hoping Sophie will cooperate with the cat-sitter!

I hope you had a good birthday! ♥

I've heard that too! Getting there isn't so bad, but once you're there it costs a LOT. :\ But I'm only going to be there four days; how much damage can I do in four days? I don't think it will be any colder than New Hampshire right now. Probably warmer, since it's an island. I'm more concerned about how dark it's going to be - I think right now they get five hours of daylight. It'll be better in a week, but still.

I had an okay birthday. We had a snowday, which I spent worrying about Sophie.

I hope my birthday twin had a good birthday!

It was a fairly low-key day. We had to change restaurants for his birthday dinner that night because the one he'd requested was unexpectedly closed, but aside from that, I think he was pleased.

Iceland! Wow. I've long wanted to go there. Will you get to go to those hot springs I always see pictures of ?

I used to cat-sit for a colleague whose cat needed daily insulin shots. She tended to be skittish as a rule, but she was totally unflapped by the shots -- really barely seemed to notice them. I hope Sophie will be the same.

I will! We're pretty much going straight from the airport to the Blue Lagoon. :D

Sophie doesn't seem bothered by the shots at all. If anything she looks forward to them since I can't imagine they hurt much and she gets LOTS of treats afterward. (I'm afraid I'm spoiling her. But I was a little alarmed by the fact that she'd lost 2lb since the summer.) If the sitter can catch Sophie I don't think she'll have trouble injecting her.
