Aaaaaah, this was such a lovely take on Carol and Christine. I was a bit annoyed at the way the movie wrote Christine out as a stepping stone for the whole "lololol Kirk is such a Casanova" characterization, in part because (a) more ladies, JJ Abrams, I promise you we're not toxic!, and (b) Kirk can be a super promiscuous ladies' man without also being an asshole? Because from what we know of him -- and tbh, what I'd like to think of him -- he's really... not? He's impulsive and terrible at self-preservation and has an ego the size of Jupiter, but he's not cruel. Is he the sort of dude who'd sleep with a girl as a playful one-time thing? Hell yes. Is he the sort of dude who'd lead her on and break her heart to the point of driving her halfway across the universe and couldn't care less, let alone remember her name? I'd like to think not.

So I'm loving that Christine does get a voice here, even if it's through Carol by proxy, and that Carol (OH CAROL) gets to deal with her hang-ups and her own trauma and stand strong through

Awww, I loved this! The recording was a wonderful choice because we got to see and hear Christine too even if she's not actually there. I like how Carol is trying to work through everything that's happened, but at her own pace. And I shuddered at every mention of her leg because oh god that was horrible.
