Nearly finished re-watching Season 4 of Buffy. It's better than I remembered. As a whole, it isn't as strong as some of the others, but it has some wonderful moments. ( Spoilers, I guess. )
Yes to all of this, but definitely with the beauty of Tara and Giles singing more often! I really want fic where Tara and Giles interact, but I never have found any on the internet at all, which saddens me.
Um...I just wanted you to know that this entry gave me the idea that Anthony Stewart Head needs to play the dean of students at Dalton Academy.
Because yes, he needs to sing more!
I didn't dislike Riley. I didn't really like him that much, either. I liked what they did with him...like Buffy thinks she's her ticket to Normal, but then he turns out to not be.
If they were to put Tony Head on "Glee," I might have to start watching it again.
like Buffy thinks she's her ticket to Normal, but then he turns out to not be.
I liked that too. The way they kept misinterpreting each other at the beginning of the season amused me greatly, and it was nice seeing them fight back to back on occasion.
Riley's insecurity bugged me. Ultimately, they destroyed the relationship and that makes me kind of sad, even though he wasn't supposed to be her Epic Love.
I remember reading somewhere that they had intended for Maggie Walsh to be the Big Bad, but then the actress had to leave for some reason, so they had to go with Adam instead.
I am with you in the not disliking Riley camp. I could see immediately that he was not The One for Buffy, but I think a lot of people who get out of very dramatic relationships fall for someone who is very wholesome and stable afterward. It seemed realistic that she would date someone like Riley, even though he was probably a little too boring stable for her.
That's too bad. She could have been such an interesting villain, especially if they built up the mother/son, creator/creation dynamic between her and Adam.
Poor Riley. They could have done more with him. I was just thinking, what if Professor Walsh had already started grafting demon parts to him and he wasn't aware? Oh, well.
Unusually, I have no OTP for Buffy herself. I like her best with Faith, but realistically speaking, I don't think they have much of a future. Even if Buffy were into girls.
hmm... I agree with you on Riley being an underdeveloped caharacter, and Tara's really great, and I miss Oz :( But Tara had to happen! I feel strongly for Willow x Tara. Amazingness surrounds them. I kind of like how Spike is sort of part of tghe Scoobies in the fourth. I like him better in the fourth season than the fifth, sixth or seventh. He's too creepy and lovesick to be entertaining in the later seasons. I don't like Faith :/ Maybe it's because I'm too.. Not cool lol Riley's too nice for me to like him :/ lol that's wrong.
I feel like Spike kind of lost his edge in the fourth season and, yeah, became too creepy and lovesick. Which sucked because he was so damn awesome in S2 and his one ep in S3. When I first watched the show, when it first aired, I shipped him with Buffy, but the more I re-watch it, the less I like them together.
