Sherlock Fanfic

May 06, 2013 17:30

So, I went looking for some decent Sherlock fanfiction about a week and a half ago and promptly became obsessed. It's a really good fandom. Anyway, there was a prompt last week at PROMPT_CRITICAL and I used it as springboard for this.

Title: Points of Divergence
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Word count: 4,152
Prompt: Use the first sentence on page 10 of any fiction ( Read more... )

fanfic, sherlock

I think you know - you ought to - how I feel about your writing, your mind, your heart. It makes me want to run down the street screaming out with equal amounts of joy and pain. It's so beautiful it does hurt my feelings. :) I am so thrilled you wrote this and I know it's fanfic and I know you don't necessarily want to do that but this is beautiful and true and lovely and just perfect. In every way.

There are so many lines and sentiments I could pull out! Every passage is just thought-provoking and hurty. (You do have one small paragraph that needs to be altered as it is John's pov.)

I want you to be writing. If it's fanfic then go ahead and pick the intellectual fandoms like this one and just flex!!!! Practice!

Beautiful!

Oh, thank you, E! I hope you know that your opinion about anything I write is not just incredibly valuable to me, but also a huge catalyst. Seriously.

I'm glad you enjoyed this one, because it basically obsessed me for a few days. This pairing. Also, I'm never sure if some of my more far-fetched images are too weird to work. If that makes sense.

Ahh, truly lovely. I find it difficult sometimes to get into fics where so much of the story takes place inside a character's head, but you make it feel effortless. That's what I enjoy so much about your writing-- that it seems so smooth and natural that the lines pull you along and before you know it, you're wrapped in a cocoon of story. Or uh, some other less inadequate metaphor.

Bravo. :)

Thank you so much! I have a hard time gauging whether a piece I write is working or not because I really struggle with plot and believable dialogue. So that was great feedback to hear. :)

It hurts to read your story, it hurts a lot, because the story is so intense, so touching. Great written story! Do you have more Sherlock stories?

Thank you for reading and commenting! It is a very hurty kind of story, I totally agree. I hope you enjoyed it anyway. I don't actually have any other Sherlock stories. I've been watching the show since the first series, but for some reason I just recently dipped into the fandom.

This is very beautiful. I remember what it was like when I first dipped my toe into this fandom. It can be quite intimidating, at least it was for me.

I hope to read more of your writing in future. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you so much! Yep, this is an intimidating fandom to me, too, because it's a really *smart* fandom and, from what I've read in it, really nuanced. That means it's an *awesome* fandom, obviously. :)
