November 7: Nano Haiku (Political)

Bombings? Torture? War?
Not low points of Bush's time.
"He called me a name!"

Former president Bush said the low point of his eight years in office was not starting a war, not ruining the economy, not torture, but when Kanye West implied he was racist.

"George Bush said Kanye West's comments were the low point of his presidency which ended Read more... )

He also said his biggest regret about his presidency is that he didn't manage to get Social Security privatized.

Is there a person on this planet with a greater lack of self-awareness? I don't think so.

I really like Matt Lauer's comment on that:

You’re not saying that the worst moment in your presidency was watching the misery in Louisiana. You’re saying it was when someone insulted you because of that.

Keep in mind that Kanye West is not a prominent politician. He's not a reporter or a political analyst. Why Bush is so offended by a random comment from a rapper is beyond me.

Especially one that is a racist douchebag. :) The irony -- so sharp it cuts!

It's boggling, I don't understand him at all. A lot of people insulted him (all presidents get insulted!), why does it matter? Not just matter, but be the lowest point in his eight years?

The nadir of Bush's presidency was 10 minutes after he won for the first term -- not that anyone knew it at the time. :)

My wife's grandparents are hitting 100 this year. Both of them. Still kicking, and still fully sane. Though they've both lost most of their eyesight and hearing, they still keep abreast of most current events. They comprehend the internet, even though they can't see a computer screen. Its quite mindblowing to realize what 100 years of lucidity means ( ... )

Wow. That's wacky but interesting. I don't agree, but it's very interesting to hear that.
