They remember a time before the prevalence of cars and radio. They were married before the Great Depression. They were middle aged during the 1950s, which the aging conservatives cite as a Golden era.
Take into account they remember all this clearly, and they stated at a dinner recently that they believe Bush will go down in history as one of the greatest presidents of the century. When asked why, they went into a 30 minute discussion on how many women's lives were changed directly and indirectly (particularly in Muslim countries) by Bush's presidency, that he did more for women than any other president in their lifetime.
It seems kinda silly...but if someone over 3 times my age can justify it rationally...
