I was also a bit disappointed with Peter not strangling himself and I'm with you on the Dobby's death scene. I cried when I read it (every time actually) but not by the movie scene. I thought Harry finished digging after dark, so the whole digging/burial in bright sunshine was a bit wrong IMHO.

In fairness, lighting the beach for night filming would have been a bitch. I sort of liked the setting-sun lighting, but you're right - it was night in the book.

You do remind me, however, of another Dobby's-death-related thing that bugged me. Which is that the top of a sand dune is really, really not a good place for a burial. One good storm and he's not actually buried anymore.

I was reading all of it, even though I have yet to see the movie ;) Stuff like this isn't spoilery to me, but just heightens my anticipation.

What you said about Hermione impressed me, and will make me observe her character with extra care. Glad you enjoyed it!

Yay! I like to give people the option of not reading about it beforehand, though.

All of the Trio were fantastic. They've all really matured as actors in the last couple of years. It was so great to see. Oh, crap! And I totally forgot to mention the sheer comic awesome of The Seven Potters scene. Dan impersonates everyone, comedy ensues. Priceless!

Haha! Yes! Poor Rupert has really had to master the 'Panicked Bewilderment' expression over the years. :oP

"I wanted to smack Ron when he was all, "She's best at the charm." OMG YOU CALLOUS PRICK!" I can't remember whether they even know what she's done with her parents at this point. And he just said that she's best at spells, plural. I think it was a general statement.

"part two I want Draco and Harry dancing, kay? Lol." In fairness, we got some hardcore eye-fucking going on. (No, I really don't care that Harry was all puffy-faced. And neither did Draco. Think about that for a sec.) :oD ( ... )

I haven't mentioned Dobby in any of my comments in places, because I'm not a fan. He's Jar Jar Binks. Unfortunately, his character was kinda set in COS, which makes him a kids movie cartoon character. Kreacher, who showed up once the films got darker, is a far more subtle figure. Goddamned Dobby. Wrecks almost every scene he's in ( ... )

Dobby is totally Jar-Jar Binks. Althought the bit where he unscrews the chandelier was fantastic. Mostly because of the way it was shot, but still. Awesome. Kreacher was way better. It was a shame they had to cut Regulus' story.

Someone described the obliviation thing as "...because of the way it's shot Hermione less erases her parents' memory than erases her own existence." Which I think is what makes it so powerful to start with. But yeah, they kept referencing it. SUBTLY. It was kind of amazing. It was actually so much better handled than in the book, where it's like, "Oh yeah, I obliviated my folks and packed them off to Australia. What's for dinner?"

*goes to check out Blood Magic* *sees word count and bookmarks for later*

I was thinking Dave McKean for the Three Brothers. He did some artwork for Sandman. But having just checked out Jasper Morello, I concur. So lovely!

Blood Magic is totes awesome. Actually, she's not written a thing I don't like :). As far as Snarry gen goes, that's probably my favourite: I've read it several times. The ten-part H/D she did recently was pretty awesome, too. For sheer fantastic old-school H/D sexytiems, the Whispers series. ;lkjasdfljk. Also Girl Stuff and the Boys. Also Backsplash and the sequel. Er. *is fan*

Inorite? She came across as so brusque and matter-of-fact in the book. Whoever went COME ON, this is a major deal - they win big points.

And! Hopefully they are saving up Peter's death. He really can't survive, but he shouldn't just die off-screen either. (Neither should Remus and Tonks, of course. Grrr, JKR.)

I think they'll have the Carrows. There was a woman at the table in the Manor who must have been Alecto, so they must be in it, at least. I don't think Peter would do very well if sent to terrorise Hogwarts on his own. He needs constant supervision.

Oh god, I just started imagining what would happen if he was. LET THE PRANKING BEGIN!!!
