Potlatch

So I'm sitting here enjoying the art auction at Potlatch. jaylake, Jerry Kaufman, Andi Schecter and Tom Whitmore are doing the honors, and doing it well (if a tad slow... and that never happened at a SF con before). The auction is still going strong and has already raised more than 2k. I'm probably the first person in the US to ever sit at a charity ( Read more... )

Hiya. Parent of young kid here. Thanks for mentioning her! She had a blast.

Agreed that the atheism panel would be great for Worldcon, but it might not be as well attended, considering Potlatch had one track of panels plus the readings, where a Worldcon is going to have 20+ tracks. At a worldcon that panel will attract the hardcore, where at Potlatch, I feel, it attracted a real cross-section.

I think an atheist panel at Worldcon would pack out. There may be 20+ tracks, but there are also 30 times more people, or more, and any under-plundered topic is going to pack out, and this one is under-plundered. Good on you for getting your kid involved, and for her being so awesome at it.
