So I'm sitting here enjoying the art auction at Potlatch.
jaylake, Jerry Kaufman, Andi Schecter and Tom Whitmore are doing the honors, and doing it well (if a tad slow... and that never happened at a SF con before). The auction is still going strong and has already raised more than 2k. I'm probably the first person in the US to ever sit at a charity auction, having won two bids (a t-shirt and Indian spices), and simultaneously watching live cricket scores (South Africa vs. Bangladesh and Shahriar Nafees is getting agressive). Well, maybe
kevin_standlee, though I refuse to imitate is at-con blogging insanity ;). Next to me
agrathea has been sketching extensively.
ConSuite is on the 16th floor with an extensive patio with intense Seattle views. Young kid rocking the ConSuite help. Can't help but love that. We drove up late last night so our con only started today. I love Portland, but it's good to get out of town for a bit, and good to be at a nice small con.
Enjoyed a lovely dinner with Jay and others. Earlier, amongst other things, a fun programming item on getting atheists out of the closet, though I wished the discussion had gone deeper it was still nice to see this fairly unusual program item. I think we need one like it at this year's Worldcon. It packed the room here at this 160-person con, so at Worldcon it would rock.
Just bought a book of fantasy art for
agrathea. Tempted by the book of Ursula K's poetry. All for good causes (Clarion and a fan's medical fund). Tomorrow is the brunch banquet, which should be fun.
Damn, I type slow. Just went over $2,500, and hoping for $3,000.
