Smooth wooden boards, wooden pegs, hammers, saws, and a pile of other wood-working and construction tools hover just to one side of everything else in the living room as Xigbar considers where to set them down.
"Hey man, where should I put this stuff?" Xigbar calls over his shoulder. "Just pick a place that's good for you." -

After getting his heart, sleep is the thing that he needs the most, physically speaking. Braig always slept a lot, and apparently, it wasn't just out of preference, because Xigbar, once he finally can, sleeps like the dead.

The sun is low and red on the horizon, there's a light breeze coming off the sea, and the smoke rising from the barbecue smells delicious.
Braig can't cook worth a damn, but meat-on-a-fire? He can totally do that. -
Before: Building a treehouse, age 10
"Look dude, this is totally the perfect tree!"
It's big, and old, with big, gnarled roots, branching in two as it rises, and rises, and rises... and leans out over the deepest, calmest part of the river.
"See, if we build the treehouse there, we can hang a rope swing over the river!"
Ten-year-old logic is impeccable. -
