I agree she should have the weight of the yarn listed as well as the gauge. If you at least knew what her gauge was, then you could choose the appropriate loom to obtain that gauge. This is a typical beginner pattern writer's mistake. In all likelihood there is other information that is omitted.

I am sure that this pattern was a big boo boo, in so many ways. I am doing way more rows, then she tells me to. Oh well. In the end, it will be awesome.

I'm not sure what "knitting over" is, but if it looks better (and is faster, I think?), are you redoing the panels you've done?

Yeah, I am redoing them. And yes. It is faster, and in my opinion, looks WAY better.

Is "knitting over" garter stitch? Does it look very different to what the pattern specified? Garter is very stretchy so it may be that.

I found the pattern and it seems to be rib. Yeah, rib would be slower than a plainer stitch.

To knit over, you wrap 1 peg at a time. Then, take the bottom loop off the peg. It is different than the garter stitch. And, you are right. Knitting over is quick.

I have a couple of patterns I've haven't actually knit/crocheted as written. Maybe you could just say you are using the pattern as a guideline and not really planning on following it exactly.

Yeah, that's the truth. I am just getting an 'idea', off this particular pattern.

From my point of view, a pattern is like a recipe - a guideline not something written in stone. That is what makes stitching of any kind fun for me.

Glad the therapy session wasn't as brutal as before.

Hugs and happy stitching,

Kae

Exactly. And, the pattern for the Old Glory Blanket. Well, let's just say the recipe is WAY off. Lol.
Thanks. I was not as beat up, this last time. =)
