Last night, I went to bed, EXTREMELY stressed out. As I tried to get to sleep, I kept thinking about this part, of the Project. This, of course, would lead to tossing, turning, and cursing. 'What the HELL was I thinking?' It was a thought, that ran through my head, more than once. Part of me wished, that time travel was, in fact, a possibility. I ( Read more... )

What a great experience at your LYS...and a great deal on yarn too!

From the pictures of your last few samples, I would have to agree that the double stitch looks thicker than the half stitch. As for the tightness and breaking yarn, I have no answer other than maybe you are wrapping the yarn to tightly to begin with? I really am no help since I've never used a loom. As with crochet and knitting, practice really does make a difference.

Yeah....the LYS was great fun.
I thought that, too. So, I tried going looser around the pegs, but still, it was difficult to remove the loops. I don't know...

What a fun experience at the LYS!

It's fun to see you taking on this looming business. It's so interesting to see how much you can do with it already!

I have to agree, alpaca socks in southern CA would be WAY too warm! Would do some good up here in ND, when it get's -50 in the dead of winter though! =)

Why, thank you. The looming is fun (but stressful.) You know, this whole deadline, set by the Project, is such a GOOD thing, for me. I have NEVER before, been so into something. Lol.

So glad that you had a great LYS experience - and a bargain to boot.

You are progressing with amazing speed. I know it seems slow to you but you have learned 3 stitches, two bindoffs in two days! Way to go!

Hugs and happy looming,

Kae

The LYS was a lot of fun. I enjoyed myself, quite a bit.
It does seem slow, to me. Or, it did. Then, you put it that way, and I am doing pretty darned good, aren't I? Hehe.
Thanks, Kae. You always make me think that I am doing so well, with this.

As you are no doubt learning, and will learn on this project, there is not always only one way to do things. If it's done different, yet at the end of the day, looks right, then you're fine.

When I teach the looms, I don't teach wrapping around each peg. My opinion is that is cumbersome, sometimes difficult, and uses more yarn. I just wrap take my yarn around the entire loom over the first stitch, secure it by lifting over the last of the stitches, then go back to the first stitch to bring the bottom stitch over the top. The fabric looks the same, uses less yarn, and is less stressful.

Anyone can write a book of directions. That doesn't make them the all knowing authority.

Boy, isn't this the truth. I just wish that the lessons, in this book, were a bit more...'in depth.'
