Drift would like to talk to you some point about your definition of 'fun', Wing. roninknight September 16 2011, 03:47:51 UTC
The first place Drift had checked on his return was the Museum. Alice...wasn't there. He tried to fight the tide of failure he'd been keeping (more or less) at bay since he'd woken up in Nautilus itself. He'd stared for a long moment at the colorful smear on the pavement--his energon, coolant, the whole ghastly rainbow--as if he could read some clue or sign ( ... )

Wing was in the middle of clawing at the metal snaked around his arm- because as much as he appreciated the fact that it was holding him up, he couldn't fly out if he was still attached- when he caught the sound of a familiar engine.

Followed by an even more familiar voice.

Coming from where there was suddenly a cascade of Insecticons tumbling over the edge of the chasm.

"Drift?!"

Was it too much to hope for? The city couldn't possibly be playing a trick this elaborate could it?

"Drift! Here!!"

Is this a private party or can anybody join? (I'll remove myself if necessary.) sixthdeadliest September 16 2011, 12:35:56 UTC
Six kept the blade on his back sheathed to completely remove the temptation of using Bending on the blade. He'd been brought up to speed by V and hadn't left the Medbay since making contact with the Ascended man.

Instead, he used his martial arts skills on the bears to try and buy some time for the others. The insectoid robots he left to Wing, realizing immediately just how futile his own efforts--even if he was using his sword--would be. The creatures vaguely reminded him of the swarm that took out a chunk of the Great Wall of China back home.

He glanced over at Wing shouting to Drift before immediately turning his attention back to the latest bear, ducking under a swipe and delivering three quick blows with his fists. The creature staggered for a moment, only to be replaced with another bear behind it.

Suzaku piloted the Lancelot right alongside Lelouch, looking about for Wakened. His heart pounded in his chest and he took a deep breath to focus. He was worried about Euphy above all else but she wasn't the only person on his mind. He had to do this professionally and swiftly.

"Lelouch, do you feel anyone around here?" he asked over the communication system.

With the rest of the city deteriorating, even staying inside seemed to no longer be an option. Everything was going crazy, and that being the opinion of someone who was now and then questionably sane was definitely something to be said.

Yet, at least being inside put walls between him and the things outside. It was simple comforts like these that Mao retreated to. Solitude, confinement, if he shut his eyes then all this would vanish. It was just too bad her sweet words weren't there to reassure him.

Crouched there within the house he thought he'd known, he was torn between shutting out the panicked voices from beyond and listening for any changes. His phone was lost somewhere and he wasn't about to move to seek it out.

Team Sideswipe -- You want a rescue? Tag in! stabbywheelfeet September 16 2011, 08:01:42 UTC
[Optimus and Nash were going to be covering him -- working with him. Same thing. Anything in his path is going to be flattened, or cut to pieces. Anything that tries to catch him is going to be outrun. He refuses to be slowed, refuses to be cowed by these nightmares.]

[There are people to be rescued. People he promised to save.]

[He'd rather die than not be there for someone else who needed him. And if he has to run himself into the ground to do so, so be it.]

[Nash watches the scenery blaze by as they tear through the streets. He trusts Sideswipe to be able to outrun whatever they encounter, but just having seen the state of this version of the city has been quite disturbing. The Harmonian is all the more eager to get people out of this place. He keeps his eyes peeled for anyone, clicking the last spike into his wrist launcher to have a round loaded and ready.]

[The Autobot weaves around what looks like a bear in the middle of the road before speeding onward.]

Do you have any locations?

[A bear.... Nash just shakes his head. He's not sure he wants to know what the people here have been put through the past weeks.]

Thomas is in the Southern District but I think Axel was going to take care of that. Let's just go through as we are and help as needed. It's going to be busy no matter where we go.

Too much, so much hatred, Alice has never encountered anything so maliciously hateful as what the aeon that is the false Nautilus is projecting against the rescuers. Hiding from the onslaught of attacks in a closet, the hedgewitch struggles with both her internal fear of everything and the external hatred of the very people who can help her, and isn’t over coming either enough to actually go out to seek to be rescued.

Easier to just give up and hope they waste their time rescuing someone who deserves it more.

[With the arthropod incursion encroaching ever further, the rescue couldn't have come at a better time. Unfortunately, it left the residents of Stark Mansion with only one way out: straight up. With bending out of the question, there was only so much Tatsuki could do to fend off the infestation, but having a sword left her better prepared than anyone else to fight the swarm back.]

You guys get to the roof! I'll hold 'em off!

[Her back to the group, she fought off the creatures as she followed the rest of the group up the stairs.]

[Now that Wing's safe...okay, more like 'now that Wing is where Drift can keep his optics on him', the white mech has calmed, racing to follow Lelouch's orders. It was almost like tearing through the streets of Cybertron again, chasing the Swarm.]

[Except nobody'd cared when he'd lagged behind then.]

[His engines growl as he sees their opponents. No Bending is no problem for Drift: he throws himself from his vehicle mode, using the momentum to launch himself over their heads, towards the building's entrance, both blades flashing out of their scabbards. No sense driving the things up against where the people you were trying to protect were hiding. ]

[With the situation at Ground Zero and the Medbay resolved, Wing had finally been able to break away, following Drift to join up with Lelouch. He flies low over the streets in tight formation with the others, pulling up only when the finally approached the Welcome House.]

[Which was far from anything welcoming. Wing breaks off to one side as Drift goes down the middle, transforming in time for his feet to hit the ground and carve a swath through the flank of the swarm. His knives come out and he lays into the creatures covering the ground and the front of the building.]

[Neither he or Drift would be able to get inside to rescue anyone without using Bending on themselves, but they could hold down the perimeter and hopefully Lelouch could take care of things inside.]
