[When you're under attack by a swarm of small creatures, the only efficient way to deal with the problem is to use something that covers a wide area without leaving any gaps.

Enter the flamethrower.

Her face was hidden behind a gas mask, but that telltale spiky head of hair gave Tatsuki away to anyone who knew her. A fuel tank mounted on her back and an igniter in her right hand, she also carried a pair of spare masks in her left, which she held out to Chie as she approached.]

Third one's for Yosuke when he gets here. If you can, keep me fueled up, because I only got about thirty seconds to a tank here.

[Chie looks at the mask she's given. What's this for? Oh well, she puts it on, Tatsuki seems to know what she's doing.]

You seriously made a flamethrower? You're good at this!

[Chie can barely manage hairspray and a match!]

...You sure you want ME to do the refueling?

[Because they both know how good her Bending isn't. Just look at the shoddy wall of stone she's struggling to put up around the house.]

[...That's an excellent point. Tatsuki simply nods politely.]

You're right. Focus on one thing at a time. Make that wall a ditch, though, they can climb over a wall. Fill it with something that'll burn slowly if you can.

[On that note, she swings the entrance door open, the bug infestation growing ever closer.]

I'm at least eighty percent sure this will work.

Burn slowly? Ugh, I should have paid more attention in chemistry...

[As if she could. Well, she supposes she can't go wrong with lava. ...Right? Chie leaves what she's made so far of the wall, and starts focusing on the lava moat several yards further out. She'd feel pretty bad if she wound up burning down the Welcome House.]

I'm sure it will. If... [Was that Hikaru or Kaoru? ...Oh never mind!] ...the twins can defeat those things with clothes, you'll do just fine with a flamethrower. Go for it!

[Meanwhile she'll make a very unintimidating lava puddle.]

[Hikaru isn't particularly skilled in fighting. Sure, he can beat the hell out of thugs who try to hurt his friends, but that's due more to pure fury than skill. He's not a martial artist, like Honey-senpai. Nor is he a kendo champion, like Mori-senpai.

[But he is one thing: he's sick of this stupid reality storm, or ... whatever it is.]

Oh no you don't!

[He's standing at an upstairs window at the front of the welcome house, shouting down at the enormous insects marching towards it.]

This is the nicest house in this city, and you're not getting in!

[And Hikaru Bends. He Bends the one thing that he can Bend. And that thing ... is clothing.

[Jackets appear on three huge spiders leading the pack, then suddenly shrink, causing the creature's massive legs to snap up against their bodies. The force throws the creatures back, and - unable to use their legs - they start rolling away, knocking into other insects as they do ( ... )

[Chie is stunned. Whoa! She didn't know Hikaru had it in him!]

WOO! Keep it up, Hikaru!

[She's totally cheering him on. It's not a conventional means of fighting, but it's very effective! ...And pretty stylish, to boot.]

Man, that rules...

[Yosuke may have a final destination of Tatsuki and her rockin' flamethrower, but he has an assignment first. Thank god for his being stupidly fast - he's going from window to window, exit to exit, making sure everything is as shut and as locked up as he can make it. He bends shutters and barricades where he needs to, but it's nothing too fancy - he can't afford to make it fancy as he skitters about]

[A sloppy wall of conglomerate concrete is reaching upward, a few inches at a time. It doesn't look like it's all that sound, and it's got a bit of a yellow tint to it, but at least it's thick and solid. When Chie sees a wasp dart for a window she hasn't yet covered, and sees it bounce back with an angry discombobulated buzz, she knows Yosuke's got it covered.]

Nice! Way to go, Yosuke!
