Here, a welcomed friend would have come up to the tired boy, greeting him with a mix of concern and relief hidden in their voice upon his return. They would have opted to stay and sit for a while, talk a little, watch the sky with him before following up with another question. The intervals in between words would then ease into silence, letting the rest of the conversation end without any need to say so. With this one angle, everything would have gone well enough.
But it was not to happen that way.
Here, no one appeared.
Nobody, to be exact.
He remained unannounced as he stood some distance away from Sora and the gate, his own silence muting the morning ambiance in the surrounding area. He could have brought attention to himself right there and then.
...Yet he chose to wait and see what the boy would do.

Xemnas merely smirked, meeting the stare with cool regard. The question was countered with one of rhetoric. "Can't a Nobody walk the city in peace?"
He expected an answer to it, but he chose to wait another moment before continuing.
"You went back." It was a fact. The Network post was made and he saw it. That was no secret. "I take it you've had quite the experience." There was an empty gesture that followed, the monotony in his voice finding an edge when it came down to that.

But, of course, that didn't happen. The Organization's former leader didn't budge, and neither did Sora's angry stare. If anything, the expression deepened when Xemnas spoke again. He was sure about one thing - Xemnas wasn't going to be the first person he told about what was going on back in their world.
"That's none of your business!" Sora yelled. But hiding his emotions, or thinking to do so, had never been his strong suit. His reaction was more then enough to confirm that something had happened. More specifically, that the something, whatever it was, really bothered him.

Really, he needed to stop thinking so much about this. It wasn't helping, and he knew that. As much as he tried to deny it, he knew as well as anyone else that thinking about problems and trying to find solutions by himself wasn't one of his strengths. At times like this, he needed help.
But...not being able to do anything was just bugging him so much. Did he used to worry so much about that ( ... )

"Things aren't going well?" he asked.
It was something he sort of dreaded as well. To return home and find things worse off than before. And considering how bad things had been, that would've been a huge problem.
He walked a little closer, silent as a ghost, and looking up at the gate. He stopped a respectful distance away, turning his head so the boy would know he was looking at him. He knew with the sunglasses that it wasn't easy to tell.

Didn't help that he couldn't figure any of it out for himself, either. Maybe, he thought, it would be better if he just changed the subject.
"Who are you, anyway?" he asked, a small smile replacing his thoughtful expression. Right now, meeting people sounded a lot nicer - and a lot easier - then trying to figure out the mess with his world. "I don't think I've ever seen you around before."
