Once the study group had concluded for the evening, Lillian decided some fresh air was in order. After a brief stop by her room to drop off her things, she left again. Terri had seemed too absorbed with her novel writing to take notice of Lillian's presence at all as she came and went.
Lillian left the school and walked down the street to the park she sometimes painted at. Unsurprisingly, it was empty. Most people had already gone home for the day.
There was something about being out after dark that felt somewhat thrilling. Whether the world had changed or simply the way Lillian viewed it, it felt good to have some time to herself.
Lillian had been on her way back to the school when she caught sight of something metallic moving in the darkness. Instead of hurrying her pace back, however, Lillian found herself approaching one of the benches next to the sidewalk. She sat down calmly to wait. Perhaps she could get a better look.
"Three days since what?" Lillian glanced over at Lester, noticing him flex his fingers. Between his words and the count of three, it wasn't hard to deduce what he was doing.
"Three days since the rude fortune telling machine in the attic told me I have three days. It told Heather she has five days, and it's been five days since it told her. The same for someone called Charlie in 1934 too." He paused and took a breath. ...He wasn't even sure where he was going with this. "I just told Heather I'd keep a look out for anything funny."
Lillian nodded. "I told her the same thing. She asked me about the machine in the attic on my blog yesterday." Of course, Lillian had been in another one of her moods earlier that evening and hadn't talked much with Heather or at all, really. She really needed to stop doing that. Poor Heather had enough social difficulties without having to put up with her own mood swings on top of it

Lester nodded slowly. "If we're all together maybe we can all work together~."
Maybe talking to these demons would be a good idea. If there were not-demon birds that could talk (see: parrots) he figured there must be some demon-birds that could talk too. But hopefully not just repeating things they've heard over and over again. ...Maybe they were friendly! If they were lucky they would be able to come in contact with these birds in a not-aggressive manner.
Lester slid back off the bench and turned to face Lilly. "Okay. Should we call her, or go get her?"
"I'll call her to let her know we're coming first," Lillian said, opening her phone. She scrolled down to the third name on her contact list and hit dial. Hopefully, Heather wouldn't be asleep yet. While it rang, Lillian turned back to Lester.
"In the meantime, we should keep our eyes peeled for those demons or anything else out of the ordinary. It might be a good idea to call Ezra, too. We could use his support, just in case."
I almost choked on my rice when I saw Lilly tell Lester to call EzraturnofthewheelJuly 1 2011, 22:36:45 UTC
Lester nodded and watched Lilly as she went through her contacts list. He watched for a while, trying to hear the ring of her phone but it was quite impossible with the distance between them and meow cat blaring in his ear through the one earbud he still had in.
He nodded again and saluted as he gazed out at the dark, trying to turn on the night vision that he didn't have...And then the second part of what she said hit him. He shuffled around for his own phone, wondering if he had even brought it with him.
It's almost like a double date azuranthineJuly 2 2011, 02:21:19 UTC
"It might be a good idea to call Emi, too," Lillian added reluctantly. After that scene in the library, she wasn't particularly looking forward to spending more time with her that night but there was no room for personal feelings here. Emi had proven herself to a useful asset in Lillian's eyes, regardless of whatever personal flaws she had. "I can call her after I get off the phone with Heather."
She waited patiently for the other girl to pick up.
HEART-POUNDING DOUBLE DATE..andsheletsgoJuly 3 2011, 16:08:38 UTC
The whole study group incident earlier that day had been quite the disaster for Heather's social confidence. Not that she had much to start with, but the whole deal with Lawrence and Emi had only made her feel more insecure and insignificant to a point where she just wanted to retreat from any sort of communication with other people. So she had gone to her room - even if she shared it with Lynne, it was still better than anywhere else with more people. She had been sitting on her bed, reading a book, but she couldn't keep her attention focused on it while she felt this way. By now Heather was actually debating going to bed early and try to forget all of it ever happened.
... But then her cellphone started ringing and she (somewhat in shock that someone would call her at a time like this) quickly picked up. "Um.. Heather here.."
FULL OF DEMON NEGOTIATING ACTION.azuranthineJuly 3 2011, 16:53:25 UTC
"Um, Heather? It's Lilly. I apologize for calling you so late but there's possibly something happening in the city tonight that I think we should investigate," she said, wincing at Heather's tone. Poor girl. As rough on her nerves the incident in the library had been, it must have been so much worse for Heather.
"If you're feeling up to a patrol that is," Lillian added nervously. "If it's too much trouble for you, I can call someone else."
WHAT IS MORE ROMANTIC.andsheletsgoJuly 3 2011, 18:04:06 UTC
"Something.. happening..?" The insecurity and slight fear was easily audible in her tone. After all, even after this time the demons still scared Heather fairly easily, and the idea of having to fight more of them was even worse. But at the same time.. she was chosen as one of the people to do this, right? It wasn't like she could turn down the duty or ignore it.
And if she didn't go now, even though she felt bad, someone else would have to go. And she couldn't let herself be that selfish.
*cues "Can You Feel The Love Tonight"*azuranthineJuly 3 2011, 20:14:12 UTC
"Lester and I are at the park near the school and there's something here with us but it hasn't attacked yet. It might be willing to talk to us about what's happening. Lester mentioned a fortunetelling machine saying that you had three days until something was going to happen and it's the third day.." She trailed off, feeling oddly embarrassed, enough to start blushing slightly. It seemed like every time she talked to Heather, it was about demon and Persona business and she knew how uncomfortable it made her friend.
I really have to stop doing this, too, she chided herself. But first things first."I think we should try and.. well, you're valuable," she finished. Oh, God, why had she said that like Heather was an object instead of a person? She wasn't just using her; she really wasn't. She really did want to be friends

all the sappy love songs.andsheletsgoJuly 4 2011, 14:03:03 UTC
Of course-- it hadn't even really struck her yet because of the study group disaster that today was the day the fortune telling cards had been pointing too. But it only made sense for a demon to appear today of all days, even if thinking about having to be close to yet another one of those things made Heather get a heavy feeling in her gut.
But then, Lillian's comment.. It sort of caught her off guard in the middle of her thinking about Personas and demons and fortune telling machines and cards that it managed to surprise her a little. And what was she supposed to say? 'I miss you too'? But.. that would probably sound a little weird and desperate, wouldn't it..
Instead she remained silent for a few moments, almost awkwardly, before speaking up again.
"N-no, please don't worry, I can go there by myself.. It's not too far off, right? And.. if anything would happen, then Inugami is w-with me.." Even if the Persona managed to scare her just as much as the demons did, at least this one was on her side. Or at least seemed that way.

Lester continued to look for his phone. Perhaps he should ask Lilly to call it later because really, he couldn't remember where he had put it. Was it even with him? Maybe. In the midst of his searching he glanced towards Lilly.
Lillian had been in the middle of berating herself for saying such a stupid thing when Heather didn't reply that for an instant, she'd forgotten Lester's presence entirely. She nodded in Lester's direction.
"It isn't far, maybe a block away," Lillian answered. "Okay, we'll meet you here, then. At the park entrance?" Maybe the demons would settle down a bit if they thought they were leaving.
Lester started pulling the things he had in his pocket out and laying them out on the bench. piPod, check. Gel pens, check. Notepad, check. Random candy wrappers, check. Loose change, check. Student ID, check. Phone, check. A late returns notice from the library, check... ...
Oh wait.
He picked up his phone and scrolled through his contacts list, passed Ezra's name and scrolled back up to it. He held the phone up to his not-music'd ear and waited for Ezra to pick up.
