"Lester and I are at the park near the school and there's something here with us but it hasn't attacked yet. It might be willing to talk to us about what's happening. Lester mentioned a fortunetelling machine saying that you had three days until something was going to happen and it's the third day.." She trailed off, feeling oddly embarrassed, enough to start blushing slightly. It seemed like every time she talked to Heather, it was about demon and Persona business and she knew how uncomfortable it made her friend.
I really have to stop doing this, too, she chided herself. But first things first.
"I think we should try and.. well, you're valuable," she finished. Oh, God, why had she said that like Heather was an object instead of a person? She wasn't just using her; she really wasn't. She really did want to be friends.
"And I miss you. I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to talk much earlier," she added. "You don't have to come here; just wait in the lobby and we'll come to you. I don't want you out here alone."
Lillian and Lester had been lucky enough to find each other but she wasn't willing to take any more unnecessary risks than they absolutely had to.

Of course-- it hadn't even really struck her yet because of the study group disaster that today was the day the fortune telling cards had been pointing too. But it only made sense for a demon to appear today of all days, even if thinking about having to be close to yet another one of those things made Heather get a heavy feeling in her gut.
But then, Lillian's comment.. It sort of caught her off guard in the middle of her thinking about Personas and demons and fortune telling machines and cards that it managed to surprise her a little. And what was she supposed to say? 'I miss you too'? But.. that would probably sound a little weird and desperate, wouldn't it..
Instead she remained silent for a few moments, almost awkwardly, before speaking up again.
"N-no, please don't worry, I can go there by myself.. It's not too far off, right? And.. if anything would happen, then Inugami is w-with me.." Even if the Persona managed to scare her just as much as the demons did, at least this one was on her side. Or at least seemed that way.

Lester continued to look for his phone. Perhaps he should ask Lilly to call it later because really, he couldn't remember where he had put it. Was it even with him? Maybe. In the midst of his searching he glanced towards Lilly.
Lillian had been in the middle of berating herself for saying such a stupid thing when Heather didn't reply that for an instant, she'd forgotten Lester's presence entirely. She nodded in Lester's direction.
"It isn't far, maybe a block away," Lillian answered. "Okay, we'll meet you here, then. At the park entrance?" Maybe the demons would settle down a bit if they thought they were leaving.
Lester started pulling the things he had in his pocket out and laying them out on the bench. piPod, check. Gel pens, check. Notepad, check. Random candy wrappers, check. Loose change, check. Student ID, check. Phone, check. A late returns notice from the library, check... ...
Oh wait.
He picked up his phone and scrolled through his contacts list, passed Ezra's name and scrolled back up to it. He held the phone up to his not-music'd ear and waited for Ezra to pick up.
Choosing between returning to his room, where his aggravated roommate was no doubt waiting, or lingering outside for some fresh air and a smoke was a no brainer. The study group hadn't seemed very focused when everyone had finally gathered. Something had clearly bothered the girls before he and Lester arrived, and the atmosphere had been a little tense. Ezra hadn't wanted to bring it up when they were all trying to get some actual work done, but that meant leaving with a feeling of vague unease. Nothing really seemed to have gone quite right that night, and he was looking forward to a bit of peace and calm to end it on a better note.
He'd no sooner set his bag against a street bench about halfway between the school and a small park and lit up when his phone rang, the familiar beep giving him pause. Did he really want to answer? After a moment of hesitation, he peeked at the name and opened it quickly upon reading his friend's name. Had something gone wrong?
"Oh!" he exclaimed when Ezra picked up. "Hello Ezra. Umm. Lilly and I are at the park right now and I think there's demons and the fortune telling machine said that we have until today." He paused. He felt like he had talked for a very long time already. "Is it okay if I ask you to come here too?" He paused again. "I'd feel better if you were here."
Demons? What had started as a hint of worry now settled as a knot in his stomach. Lester wasn't alone, at least, but it sounded like he and Lilly weren't sure about there being any threats, yet. He knew how to solve that...
All at once, Ezra felt very, very exposed out in the open, at night, and shifted warily before taking a drag on his cigarette. Scanning still took quite a bit of concentration, but this alertness - a bit of paranoia, really - tended to make things a lot more intuitive. It sort of felt like having eyes boring holes into you, and Xochi, woken by the promise of a little fun, urged him that there was definitely something leering at them from over in that park. He'd risen to his feet and started walking before Lester had even asked him to come, and made an absentminded noise of agreement. "It's fine." After a pause, he added, "Be careful. Be there in a minute, I'm not too far."
He slipped his phone into his pocket with a frown. Ezra was sure he'd asked that fortune telling machine something just two days ago, though he hadn't been too happy with his answer, but any mention of a date had slipped his mind like so much else lately. Ezra sighed before breaking into a light jog. They'd been told not to plan too much, but they were always so unprepared...
"Okay. Thank you." He kept the phone held up against his ear for a while even after Ezra hung up. He knew quite well that the other was on his way and smiled a little. It was true that he would feel better with Ezra here. He wasn't entirely sure why. Maybe it was just like Lilly said and it had to do with strength in numbers.
He finally put his phone back in his pocket and started gathering up everything else he had spread out on the bench.

After telling Lillian that she would meet up with them there and saying goodbye, Heather quickly left to go there - after all, she didn't want to be too late. She unceremoniously (although she felt slightly bad about that fact) dumped her book on her bed and shoved her cellphone in one of her pockets, taking off out of her room and the school building towards the park.
It was actually maybe a little scary to her to be out this late on her own, even if it was just a walk to that nearby park. The darkness and more silence compared to the day was enough to slightly unnerve her, and part of her expected to see a demon popping up somewhere anytime now. But she just started running towards the park, hoping to be there soon enough.

Lillian breathed a small sigh of relief at Lester's words and nodded. She waited for him to finish collecting his things and then headed toward the park's entrance to wait. She watched closely for any sign of Heather or Ezra. After a few minutes, she spotted Heather running toward them. Despite herself, she found herself beginning to run toward her then forced herself to slow to a walk, still keeping an eye out for anything that could jump them.
AND IT GOES ON AND ON AND ON..andsheletsgoJuly 5 2011, 16:52:05 UTC
"Lillian--!" Heather said, near a shout, as she saw the other girl approach. She stopped though when she got pretty close, instead now trying to catch her breath, still wobbly on her legs. She glanced around suspiciously as well; Heather wasn't so convinced that the only demons here were in the park. And if they got attacked like this..
... She smiled at the other girl regardless, still catching her breath as she spoke. "A-am I.. still in time..?"

Lester finished shoving everything back in his pocket and trailed after Lilly to the entrance of the park. He was happy to see Heather there, and even happier to see that she had gotten here safely. And it was also nice that Lilly seemed happy to see her too.
"Heather~," he called out. "Good evening~. The demons here haven't done anything yet. At least I don't think they have."

"Hello~" Lillian smiled back warmly. "Like Lester said, there hasn't been any change as far as we can tell. We're waiting for Ezra, who's on his way. He should be here soon."
Lillian glanced back toward the park briefly, to see if she could catch another glimpse of flying metal. She didn't want to relax too much in case whatever was out there tried to take them by surprise. Getting assaulted from behind by a goblin once was more than enough for her.

"Ah, Lester, good evening to you too.." She nodded when she spotted the boy, a tiny but very nervous smile on her face. Of course she was sort of happy to see Lester too, since she was actually on good terms with him, but the whole demon business was still freaking her out.
Heather let out a slight sigh of relief. "I'm really glad if they haven't done anything yet.. That could have ended up a little scary, right?" At the mention of Ezra she glanced over her shoulder, maybe to see if she could see the boy approaching. She didn't know him as well as the others, but.. his powers would probably be useful, right? "H-hmm, I hope he'll arrive soon."

"I hope so, too."
As far as Lillian knew, Ezra could gather intel with his Persona and set things on fire. While both extremely useful, Ezra didn't seem to be the sturdiest of people when one thought about it. He could just as easily be ambushed as Heather could.
"Maybe we should look for him," she suggested uncertainly. "Just in case."
