When Franziska had first noticed that some of the wagons were starting to head off in the direction of the Trail, she had ultimately decided that she would not follow. What was the point of travelling somewhere where the conditions were harsher and unknown when she was reasonably safe here in Independence, and could wait for the game to end, to wake up from this dream, for reality to fix itself -- whatever the reason was. So, she simply went to bed in a warm, cozy inn bed the night the wagons first started leaving...but when she woke up, she was somewhere entirely differently.

The first clue she had that something was horribly wrong was that the surface she was lying on was moving, as though her bed had sprouted legs and decided to bounce, not walk, away as quickly as it possibly could. The movement caused her to jolt awake, bumping her head against a wall that she was sure hadn't been so close to her pillow before she had gone to sleep. Muttering under her breath as she rubbed the injured spot on her head, she sat properly upright

"Then surely you must know that people usually walked behind the wagons during the daytime. And seeing as how we're now awake, that's what we should do."

"Fine, but put something else on."

He got to his feet, keeping his head down as he headed towards the back of the wagon.
