I don't care much for store bought breads anymore since I've learned to make my own. I'd rather make most things from scratch than buy it now. So it's no surprise that I ( Read more... )

haha well we'll see how they turn out but basically what I did was cut up cucumbers and anything else I wanted to use to flavor it, so in the case of the jar on the left I added garlic and onion. You can add peppers and tomatoes and stuff too. Really whatever you want to put in. Then I put dill seed and dill weed in there (dried, not fresh) for the dill flavoring. I added 1/2 tbs of each, I guess in 6 weeks we'll find out if that was good or if I need to adjust.

Then I heated equal parts of water and vinegar on the stove (2 cups of each to make the two jars) along with a good amount of salt (1/4 cup for the 4 cups of liquid) and then heated it to a boil and poured it over the jars of sliced cucumbers.

Now they're cooling and they'll sit in the pantry for 6 weeks. I'm a nerd so I'm going to take weekly pictures. Haha.

Added back! Woo. See I hate cucumbers but I like pickles so I'm not too sure I'd say they look good yet. Which is why I'm waiting a whole 6 weeks to eat them. Let the pickling happen, eh?
