Happy New Year everyone. I hope your parties are swell. I'm staying in but I can hear my neighbors having a hell of a time.

Out of curiosity, how many people plan to have and keep New Year's resolutions?

Mine is to get more involved. I feel as if I haven't done anything worthwhile with my life so it's time to change that.

You could start by going out and joining one of those parties.

That's a really good point. Maybe I will.

Nothing at all? Really?

Maybe I should have worded that as 'I haven't done enough.'

Do you have any plans on how to do more?

Not a clue. I'm going to try to figure it out soon.

Involved in what?

In life, the city and the people who live here.

Oh? What about them?

I'd like to help them out more, that's all.

I fail to see why some require holidays to find their resolve.

I don't think it's a requirement so much as a tradition. The New Year is a good time to look for a new beginning as much as any arbitrary date.

And why is an arbitrary date necessary at all?

It isn't necessary, it's how some people are. They need a moment in time to say "This is when I'm going to start. This is my new beginning."

I'm going to at least try to keep mine.

I think most people do.

It's true that it doesn't always work out.
