Hallway, near the grand ballroom thewayfindsyou January 28 2011, 02:11:03 UTC
In the several minutes that had passed following the alert, Komamura had put together a better idea of what the ship was encountering. "Monsters" was an ambiguous word, but he was doubtful that it should apply here. Not conventionally, at least. While these creatures physically resembled those that could be found in the badlands, they were something else entirely.

He met one of them near his quarters. It had him attacked on sight, and after he cut it down it...changed, somehow. What should have been a body was a framed painting. Not unlike those on exhibit in the ballroom. Inconclusive as the single incident might have been, it was for that reason that the demihuman made his way towards the ballroom now.

Very well. Now, the question was how to go about doing just that. Attacking it directly seemed senseless at best, suicidal at worst. If he were able to use Tengen, there would be no need for a distraction in the first place. He would need to be able to act when its defenses were lowered, perhaps the best option was simply to wait for another attack.

"I will cover you when it strikes again," he said. "That will be your chance."

"All right. Be careful."

Mii stayed where he was, not taking his eyes off the creature.

The monster in turn, was watching the two creatures in front of it, all four heads weaving back and forth. With a hiss, three of the heads lunged forward while the fourth came from a different angle, determined to corner its prey.

Such tactics were to be expected, the best way for the creature to use its natural advantage would be to overwhelm an opponent with a front, and then to strike from a side that was effectively blind. A dangerous tactic, but one that the demihuman had enough experience to anticipate. Were he fighting alone, he might make the lone head his target. As it was, however, he had another priority.

Komamura dashed in front of Mii's position, sword ready to cut at any head that came within range. His goal was to occupy the two heads on that side. If they were unable to protect the side of the creature, then the other swordsman would have a clear opening.

The three heads hissed as they watched the larger creature dash forward and collectively reared back, all eyes fixed on Komamura. The littler creature was temporarily ignored as it dealt with what it saw as an imminent threat. The fourth head made a experimental strike towards Komamura.

With the monster's attention fixed on Komamura, Mii shifted his weight onto his left leg and pushed himself into a run, sword barely touching the ground. Dodging under one head, he set his arms on the ground and jumped as high as he could. The monster was large and he was certain that with just his clockwork strength, he might not be able to kill it.

'If I add my body weight, it...should...work...Damn.'

He could feel his thoughts slowing as he wound down as he brought the blade straight down into the monster's back where the heads and the tail met, and felt the blade pierce through the scales. He tightened his grip on the sword and drove it down further.

A single head was simple enough to deal with, he kept it at bay with his blade. For a moment, he lost sight of Mii. Then the serpent-creature reeled in pain. It was an opportunity he took advantage of, moving in to strike the undersides of the necks, at their bases.

The heads reeled back after Komamura's strike, screeching before falling heavily.

Mii felt the body dissipate into smoke until all he was left with was his sword stuck in a painting of the monster.

His grip slackened and he slumped forward, "Forgot...to finish...daily...maintenance..."

He opened the front panel in his body to reach for the wind-up key, 'Just...a little...more to the...left...'

His hand slipped as his body shut down completely and the key dropped out of the compartment with a clang.
