Deck---Ness, though if Ten wants to have Joshua make cracks that's cool too tiny_tinker_toy January 15 2011, 01:43:00 UTC
Rikku was heading back in from the spring when she saw Ness. Grinning, she ran up and glomped him.

"Hi!"

And suddenly, Ness was attacked from behind! It reminded him of the Winding Way days, and he instantly knew the identity of his attacker.

"Hi Rikku," he replied.

"Heya, Ness," Rikku giggled. "Whatcha up to~? Have you---oh my monkeywrenches is that a ring?"

It was something new, and something shiny. Of course Rikku was going to spot it.

And so it begins.

Ness wasn't particularly looking forward to this, but he knew he couldn't avoid it. Rikku's reaction was one of the ones he was most worried about. Would she approve? Tell him to break it off? It scared him, to be honest.

"Uh...this? It's...yeah, it is," he stammered, reaching over to fiddle with it.

Deck --- Redy and Greening with Nesserbelt wontcallhome January 15 2011, 08:34:13 UTC
Red was actively looking for his little brother. He a couple of important things to do. Like checking up on Shibu and asking Ness a very important question. So when he found the boy, he asked the question first.

"Hey, Ness...What's the address of our house in Melior, again?"

Ness turned around at the mention of his name, but when he heard the question, he had to fight the urge to turn back around again.

"You forgot...our address?" he asked in disbelief. Would Red ever be able to find his way home (if he ever did try to go home)? Did he even remember what home looked like? The sad part was, Ness would have no trouble believing that Red would have forgotten those things. "I'll write it down for you," he continued, taking out a pen and a scrap of paper, using a nearby crate as a writing surface.

"...Yeah." Give Red a monster, he could train into a champion fighting creature, remember were he lives, not so much. At the very least he did remember what the house looked like...he think. It was the one with trees? Or was it a shrubbery. Oh well! "Yeah, thanks."

And then he noticed it. The band on his brother finger.

Oh god no. Don't let it be that.

"What's that on your finger."

So Red noticed it after all. Well, Ness supposed his brother couldn't be oblivious to everything around him. Just most of it.

"It's a ring," he said, handing over the paper to Red with his right hand and holding up his left so Red could see it better.

It was an unspoken challenge to his brother to say something about it.

Rikku and Joshua--Josh's cabin tiny_tinker_toy January 16 2011, 23:36:34 UTC
Rikku had promised Ness she wouldn't interfere with the wedding plans.

She had made no promises about harassing the hell out of Joshua.

Screwdriver in hand, Rikku stormed down to Josh's cabin. She banged on the door, determined to get answers out of him. And woe betide he who gave her the wrong answers.

Ness wasn't in, which meant Joshua was supposed to be the one to answer the door. Shibu and Fobbie weren't with him, either. Joshua had doubt the cat was teaching the young monster ways to be more annoying. He really didn't feel like answering the door, so he didn't look up from his journal when he shouted above the racket, "It's unlocked."

And if it hadn't been, Rikku would have unlocked it herself. She opened the door, mindful of the fact that even though she was after Joshua, this was also Ness's cabin (if what she'd heard from the cabin boys was right, at least).

"Congratulations," she said flatly.

If the medical books on the floor didn't give away the fact there was someone else living in the cabin besides Joshua, the double bed, definitely not-Joshua clothing and other luggage would have.

Joshua glanced up when the racket-maker entered their cabin room. Ah, he was wondering when this would happen. He shut his journal with a snap, before turning in his seat to face Rikku. Loosely curling his left hand by his cheek, he said casually, "You don't sound very congratulatory. Congratulations are usually said in a happier tone of voice, Rikku."

kitchen, if that's cool? and one, both, or either! flailingbento January 17 2011, 22:05:47 UTC
Getting used to the kitchens was taking awhile; the inventory was far different from what Watanuki was used to on the Amestris. He'd seen most of the people on the ship around, but hadn't really gotten to speak much with many of them (the fact that he was studiously avoiding the hot springs after his first ill-fated trip there may have had something to do with this).

He'd heard rumors about Ness and Joshua, but nothing concrete; he'd been wondering, but planned to reserve judgment until he could find time to talk to one or both of them.

You're getting both! fallingjunkyard January 18 2011, 01:20:27 UTC
Joshua knew Watanuki was back. His favourite cook was back! Of course, he liked pushing the flailing guy's buttons, but now he had some new revelations to mock him with. Of course, that didn't change how much he loved Watanuki's food, so here he was, entering the kitchen during a non-meal time despite the cook's strict decision to disallow snacks.

He was quite sure Ness was behind him, too; Joshua really had to teach him what foods he did and did not like. Giving Watanuki a small wave, Joshua said, "I'm sure you won't mind if we get a snack, right, Watanuki?"

Lucky you! eighthmelody January 18 2011, 03:40:09 UTC
Ness suspected from the beginning that this trip to the kitchen was just to mooch food of Watanuki, and lo and behold, he was right. He had followed more because he knew he would have to drag Joshua away from the kitchen once Watanuki started threatening physical harm. Some things never changed, he supposed.

"Don't bother him," Ness said, giving Joshua a nudge.

WOOHOOOO flailingbento January 18 2011, 04:01:24 UTC
Watanuki hadn't heard Joshua's voice in a damn long time. He turned quickly from his work when he heard it-- and was surprised to see both he and Ness enter the room.

He was about to muster up some genuine happiness at seeing them-- it had been long enough, after all, and he was more than ready to catch up with them-- but no. When Joshua asked for a snack, it turned to irritation so quickly it would have been difficult to catch the smile that almost made it onto his face.

"A snack?" he said, hefting the basket of vegetables he was carrying onto the counter and turning to face them. "Really? Do you not watch the networks at all?"

He glanced at Ness and added, much more pleasantly, "Hello! It's been awhile." And then his glare returned to Joshua as though it had never left.

INFIRMARY, FOR NESS. THOUGH JOSHUA'S WELCOME TO STEP IN IF HE LIKES. flight_15 January 18 2011, 05:30:13 UTC
Ichigo was still learning his way around the ship, and hadn't met all its crew yet. He'd been intending to stop into the infirmary to see Ness and catch up for a while, and now seemed like a good time. It seemed like it had been forever since he'd seen the guy, even though it had really only been since the Hanami festival.

Still, it was too long.

He pushed open the door to the infirmary and looked around.

"Ness? Hey, Ness! You in here?"

Luckily for Ichigo, Ness was both in and free at the moment. It was a slow day at the infirmary, which, in Ness' opinion, were the good days. He turned around at the voice, and when he saw Ichigo, it was then did it really sink in that Ichigo was back on the same ship as him.

"Ichigo!" he called, hopping right out of his chair and heading straight over to him.

The smile on Ness' face was infectious. Ichigo found himself returning it, grinning broadly at the doctor. "It's been a while."

...he wasn't really sure what possessed him to do it. It was just an impulse, really. Maybe it had been the reunion with Rikku. Or maybe it was just the upward direction his feelings had been taking lately. Maybe he was finally getting used to this sort of thing after years of being friends with people who didn't care about personal space, or maybe he was just really glad to see Ness again after so long. But the truth was, when Ness approached him, Ichigo reached out and pulled him into a hug.

...hopefully it would be okay and not awkward.

Hugs weren't awkward to Ness, and he happily hugged Ichigo back. It was almost like seeing family again. Or having a brother who didn't disappear for three years.

"It has," he answered, letting go after a few seconds. "How have you been? Did anything exciting happen while you were gone?"

Ness always imagined Ichigo to be the type of person who got into amazing adventures. He wasn't sure why that was; Ichigo just seemed to be that kind of person.
